The problem is, we live in South Central Kansas: It gets hot, really hot!, near or over 100 degrees everyday from late May-early June thru possibly early September. On top of that it might not rain here for weeks. If that isn't enough we have killer humidity that'll take your breath away in the summer. Now some might say they like the heat and humidity; personally I do not! But it's home, so this is where we'll stay. Sounds like Ginseng is a fussy plant needing shade cloth, perfect moisture control, and pampering. It's not going to find that in my part of the world unless someone with a lot more ambition that I have wants to deal with it. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars The best practical book for woodland agriculture under the forest I have seen *by T***E on Reviewed in the United States on February 18, 2016* A very complete book for anyone interested in woodland agriculture. I bought this for learning more about growing Ginseng and Goldenseal. These parts are well written and include site selection, good horticultural tips, university studies, economic analysis and stories from regular people who have done it for years. I also found some of the other woodland crops to be of interest and may grow them on my land. By the way my ginseng and goldenseal are doing great so far!!! Follow up 9-29-16. After the first season we have 300 Ginseng plants and several goldenseal. I just planted another 4000 more ginseng in a wild simulated setting.
