Review: Extremely cost-effective for the features you're getting with excellent an excellent display! - For the longest time I've been looking for reasonably cost-effect monitors to replace my 11(!) year old Samsungs (2x) and settled on this. My reasoning mostly being that 1080p is more than good enough even in the landscape of today for work / gaming usage but wanting that 144hz to reduce screen tearing and for the added smoothness. In general there is little to fault - the 144hz is such a magnificent upgrade coming from 60hz and the IPS panel is vivid with (so far) no light bleeding whatsoever. Also, as Nvidia opened up their GSync system to have FreeSync compatibility (and you have a compatible Nvidia card) you may also find GSync works out of the box! I have unfortunately already gained a dead pixel (black) on one monitor but I'm fairly lucky in that it's actually right at the top-right corner of the screen so at worst it's in my peripheral, but on average I barely even notice it. Fairly straightforwards to mount, though if you plan on doing so you'll have to actually remove the partial-stand already attached (and find somewhere to store it). It takes the standard VESA 100x100 plate which the majority of mounting systems provide anyways! In terms of what's shipped with the box, you get both a UK and EU power cable, alongside an HDMI cable. I knew ahead of time they didn't ship a DisplayPort cable but considering that you can't really reach 144hz without it - it's an absolute waste (so be prepared to buy an additional DP cable). Beyond that, at around £200 (at time of writing) it's probably the best monitor you can get on the market that gives you all these incredible features. Sure it lacks 2K / 4K but as most machines aren't capable of doing that for gaming, and most content put out still isn't reaching 4K anyhow then you'll find that these are more than good enough! Overall - this monitor is fantastic value and I genuinely don't think you'll be disappointed with it. It does exactly what it says on the tin and even throws in some great features you wouldn't find on other monitors at this price point!
Review: A good monitor - UPDATE 2: The dead pixel is... gone! It turns out it wasn't even the monitor, it was STEAM! Specifically it was something to do with one instance of Steamwebhelper. Every time this happens, I kill all instances of Steamwebhelper and it goes away. Back to 5 stars it is :) UPDATE: I have to take back my "no complaints" part - I've only had this monitor for about a month and there's already a dead pixel - and it's not simply one pixel, it's one black pixel with a sort of "pinch" around it, almost as if the screen has been hit with something (and it definitely hasn't). Picture attached (excuse the quality). I have no complaints about this monitor. It does what it says on the tin, and is great quality too, all for a decent price. This is my first time using a 144Hz monitor and man it's so smooth and responsive, no matter how fast I move the mouse I can still see it highlight the things it moves over. In the few games I'm able to play at over 60FPS (thanks GPU shortage), the difference is noticeable and it's a lot easier to see and track moving objects i.e. players, as well as line up my shots. The colours on this monitor are also pretty good. Now I'm not a colour guy, but I can see subtle differences and I can recognise banding, and the only time I ever see (a little) banding is in Steam, which may actually be their fault for not using a perfect gradient rather than the monitors fault. I did notice that it handles blues slightly worse than other colours, and Steam's background is blueish, but again that may be my fault for not configuring properly rather than the monitors fault. Overall this is a really good monitor at a really good price. Buy it.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does this monitor have an optical passthrough?**
A: Yes

**Q: I the monitor vesa compatible (a monitor arm)**
A: Yes

**Q: Resolution is blurry on new vg249q monitor at native 1080p. can i fix this or is it just a faulty panel i need to return?**
A: Maybe the monitor itself is like this because my 24. 5" 1080p monitor is also a bit blurry compared with my another24" 1080p monitor. I have tried all the setting options on the monitor but it's still a bit blurry. My advice is that if you think it is too blurry then you can return it. If it's okay for you, you can contact customer service and tell them the situation.(I think it's okay for me and I didn't return but I don't know how blurry your monitor is)

**Q: Does this monitor mostly work out of the box or do any settings need tweaking?**
A: For me it was great out of the box. Think I reduced the brightness slightly but the colours were spot on.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great screen
*by M***. on 1 May 2020*

Fantastic screen, set it up to 120Hz and Full HD, works fine and causing much less eye strain than my previous screen. I also like the adjustment options, it goes up/ down; rotates landscape/ portrait and also rotates on its leg so you can change the position without moving it's base. The downside was that it came with 2 power cables, the UK and European plugs respectively, however the cable with the UK plug was not compatible with the connection port on the back of the screen (ain't it crazy huh?!). So I had to order an extra adapter for the European plug cable to fit the UK socket.
