SDS+ Hammer Bit, Rock Carbide, 1/2-Inch by 16-Inch by 18-Inch (DW5440)

This carbide hammer bit is exactly what I needed for drilling some deep holes into concrete. The shaft is machined very well and there is very little wobble to it. After drilling a bunch of holes back to back and heating up the bit, there was zero damage to the carbide tip. Was very happy to see this and it should hopefully last a very long time. This also does a great job at removing all of the dust from the hole saving time from having to pull the drill back and forth. The roundness of all of the holes has been great (as long as I drill straight). Would highly recommend and buy again!

I don't think I could break this if I tried. It cut very well in my foundation. The end that engages in a drill is obviously designed for a professional grade hammer drill and the notches cause it to be off center in a standard chuck. I cut the very end off leaving on the smooth shank for my chuck to grab and now this is a perfect standard masonry bit. Love it!

Wooks better than expected. I drilled a small, shallow starter hole in the wall. My 1/2" hammer drill quickly punched thru a 14" cast gunite wall. The bit also worked its way around a rebar in the wall. The bit was still sharp after the job. To install a pipe thru this hole requires a pipe less than 1/2" od. I used a polyethylene hose for my wires, but a copper pipe would have worked well for plumbing.

Made life easier drilling into shale rock

I'm giving it 4 stars only because I thought I was getting what was in the photo. I instead got an SDS bit. After receiving I went back to the item description and it did in fact say SDS so I will take some responsibility for only going by the photo. Other than that, it's a high quality bit. Just make sure you read the description. I included a photo of the one I received so future buyers know what they are getting.

Worked great for tapping into my stem wall to inject termite solution. Make sure you have a hefty hammer drill and it works like a dream

Using it to drill trough concrete retaining walls to run wire. Have done over 20 holes of 8-10 inches without any trouble

I use this for drilling holes to put in For Sale signs. With the ground frozen, this bit went right to 16" without any difficulty.
