Exactly as Described, Perfect Replacement
Bought this to repair an old lamp with a brass switch that had stopped working. Removed the old fitting and easily replaced it with this one. The terminal screws were sound and the threaded collars all fitted and tightened correctly. Quality item that has brought an old lamp back to life.

Won't buy again
The tips of the switches are different from what is in the photo. The photo shows an edge which I liked, thinking it beneficial in use. The product sent had round ends. Then I noticed the metal was marked all over, but worse was how easily it showed dents. I hadn't used any tools, and I'm not particularly strong handed, but find there are deep scrapes throughout the shade holder rings. It's fair to say the metal feels and looks cheap; I expected a better quality product, and at this price point did not get one, and it's reasonable to get an item with the features as in the advert photo. Have decided to return the product, but found it will cost £2.75 (!!), so won't bother.

Did the job
Perfect for what I needed, the old table lamp fitting had snapped, presumably one of our cats knocked it off the table and the damage wasn’t noticed. Took the lamp apart and gambled this would work, it was perfect for the job, table lamp now fixed and stronger than ever. 10mm threaded entry to the switch so a 10mm threaded bar fitted perfectly into it, the switch works as it should, if you can wire a plug fitting you can wire this exactly the same, the fitting just works

Brass Switched lamp light Bulb Holder.
Only received 1 star to allow me to carry out a review. No instructions at all - Very Poor The part for the earth wire wasn’t tapped meaning there was no thread for a screw to make sure that the earth had a good contact. As a result there wasn’t a screw to ensure the earth wire had a good contact. As a result I had to solder the earth wire into place which was more time consuming. Because of the earth situation in my opinion this item should be updated to include a tapped thread along with the appropriate screw. I would certainly NOT Purchase this item again or recommend it to other people. Price is about right for something that is manufactured for the British market but certainly NOT on this occasion. Safety - very poor Ease of installation - very poor
