**Q: Will this work if one side of the floor is carpet and the other side is hardwood?**
A: Yes. We used on a door where one side is plush carpet and the other side is hardwood. Works great without any problems.

**Q: Will it work if your door is an inch off the ground?**
A: I think it should work.

**Q: does this stop smells?**
A: That really depends on the smell and how tight of a seal the other parts of the door are. This only blocks air/smells from the bottom of the door, but that doesn’t mean smells can’t enter from the top or sides.

**Q: What does 1.9” mean?  Is it 1 3/4 inches or it is just slightly below 2”?**
A: Do not know where you get 1.9”. Size is 1.6” ( approx 1 1/2” diameter of sponge insert) by 34” (long for wide this of door). Fits my door perfectly.

They do the job, they're not inconspicuous, they are easy to install - I simply cut the cylindrical foam to size and stuffed that into the 'casing' - closed it with the velcro flap and slid them under my doors. They are loose since I didn't use any of the tape that come with the kit; used to tape to the back of the door (towards the hinges) and some clear ones on the front and back sides of the doors. They don't interfere with the doors closing. They do restrict noise but don't necessary block noises. They block air flow and to an extent cooking smells. They work as intended and do the trick just right.
