## Description

Enjoy a comfortable retreat from the sun from dawn until dusk with the Coleman Point Loma Dome Sun Shelter, 15 x 15 feet. This canopy tent sets up in about 15 minutes and creates a spacious 218 square feet of shade, making it a great choice for family reunions and big outdoor gatherings. The Point Loma’s unique, super-stable dome shape protects from low-angle sun in the early morning and late evening. During the day, the shelter’s UV Guard material provides UPF 50+ protection from the sun's dangerous rays, and the vented roof design releases trapped heat for added comfort. Taped seams help keep water out if it rains, while Illumiline reflective guy lines offer greater visibility at night. This canopy tent is made from rugged Polyguard 2x double-thick fabric that stands up to the rigors of the outdoors, so you can use it season after season. Ground stakes and preattached guy lines are included for added stability. When the fun is done, the canopy can be stored and transported in the included easy-pull wheeled carry bag, which fits inside most cars.

Review: Excellent sun shade/shelter - I have been camping many years and have had numerous types of tents and shelters over this time. This 15x15 sun shade/shelter is my favorite so far for a number of reasons. First off, it seems to be of excellent quality for the price. For a shade of this size, it is hard to beat. The tradeoff is for a reasonable price, you need to take a little time to setup, but I feel it is well worth it. The first time doing the setup took quite a long time since it was taking us a long bit to figure out how it all goes together. So just be patient and the most important first step is to use the strap pictured in the manufacturer photo, that's the strapping you see on the "ground" in the photo. You only use it for the initial setup and remove it once you are set. I'm writing this after using this for a full season of camping and have setup and taken down several times now. As for the quality of the parts, everything seems to be of very good to excellent quality. The supports are steel poles with internal metal shock cords which help keeps it organized and easier to assemble. Contrary to one of the negative reviews I saw on here, the internal shock cords certainly do NOT seem fragile to me and mine have already been through several setups/teardowns with me with no problems at all. When assembled, I do not have to stoop down at all to walk under the centers (5'10") and the interior is even higher. The images on the site barely do it justice to show the assembled size. I saw some other comments about it not doing well in the rain. I have not had that experience and felt it has done an excellent job. We had a LOT of light showers this season and it kept everything pretty dry. One trip we had a pretty substantial heavy rain for a short-medium duration and it was still almost perfectly dry underneath. Granted the material is very lightweight, but it does seem to do a very good job shedding water. There are plenty of other spray on treatment options available which could probably improve performance in very heavy rain if treated in advance. Due to the way this structure is designed, it is essential that it must be staked down at the feet. This is absolutely critical as the strapping used for setup should not be left on after assembly (it is easy to trip on and accidentally get knocked off in the dark) and not having that or having it staked in will compromise the structure integrity. Also, please don't make a silly mistake and not use the guy wires and also stake them down if there is going to be any significant wind. These help tremendously in keeping the structure stable and strong. Otherwise realize that there is little difference between this and a very large kite with a strong enough wind. Don't regret skipping that step! Very happy with this and seriously considering a second one for our larger camping events.
Review: Sturdy, well-designed, and aerodynamic sun shade. - This sun shade has so far exceeded my expectations. It is well made and well designed. I'm most impressed at how well it resists wind gusts. I'm using it in the desert, and so far it has easily wihtstood 10-15 mph winds; I think it could easily withstand more (time will tell). It is aerodynamically designed, and comes with eight attached guylines near the corners, which are easily adjusted. It comes with decent stakes, but I purchased it with with Coleman 10-In. Steel Nail Tent Pegs, 4 Count , which are longer and sturdier. Staking it down is essential in high winds. The air vent at the apex is a nice touch; it allows some warm air to escape. I had considered getting the 12x12 version, but this one at 15x15 is generously sized for several of us to take our chairs and shelter from the sun, with headroom for standing. But in very strong sun (8,000 feet in the clear skies of desert mountains) with no wind, you can definitely feel some heat radiating from the sun-baked canopy. It feels better when there's a breeze -- and it's cooler sitting down than standing with your head near the canopy. It's reasonably easy to assemble, but it requires some strength to bend the curved poles enough to fit in the four corner pieces. One of the last steps is to use the included perimeter straps to connect to each corner and pull the corners together (which also raises the roof higher); that also takes some muscle. I've almost gotten it together all by myself; but it's much easier with two or more people who can easily push it into its final shape, then stake it down. The storage case with rudimentary wheels is helpful for moving it around on pavement, because it is quite heavy. I've used it twice so far, each time for several days. We'll see how it holds up over time, but it looks promising.

This item is great. To set up you need at least two people. Set up is kind of dificult but once you figure out what goes where it becomes easier to set. The stakes that this set brings where not great at all. Make sure to get a good set of stakes and lost of them to hold it down. We set it up near beach so it was very windy. Lucky I have very good stakes.
