Though the plastic looks fragile, it was still good. However, once inflated, the deflation is almost impossible. It's good to an extent as there is no risk of your child drowing in the water. But always, it should be used under supervision as it might tumble over the child facing down into water. Over the quality is fine. If ur planning for a water activity..go for it. Had received it now and it's a nice vest for my 18 month kid..it's adjustable to fits well. Plastic quality is also good.

we took this for easy packing in a suitcase; it was flimsy and didn't feel secure. we used it a few times

Child slips through, and doesn't hold up well in the water.

The idea is great, for travel purposes. But the quality is not very good. I bought two, one had a section that defalted every time I filled it up. The air inlet would pop itself back out and open before I could finish inflating the rest of the air compartments, no matter how I tried to close it. So that one was useless before even putting it on a child. The second one inflated fine, but once I put it on my son, within a couple of minutes of him simple running around on the beach (he wasn’t rolling or tugging on the vest), one of the buckles came unstrapped from the vest. I’m thankful he wasn’t in the water when that happened. I tried to put the strap back into the buckle but it was too flimsy to keep from being pulled out with any tiny tug. I wouldn’t trust these to keep my child floating, even for a couple hours worth of swimming.
