Superb little MP3/FLAC player
Costing £19.98 with a discount and £5 voucher ( promotional for the bank holiday I think) I was very pleased with this player. Before I start I should state that I have congenital hearing loss so my hearing isn't the best - perhaps someone with perfect hearing may think the sound quality isn't that great, but Im very happy with it - also with the volume - it goes loud enough for me to be able to hear clearly and enjoy both music and spoken word. Sound is clear ( delivered through my Panasonic RP-HT7X headphones) The controls take a little bit of getting used to being dark grey on black they are not the easiest to see in low light. The display is good - not sure I would want to read a book on it, but it is offered as an option, as is watching video files. Ive loaded mine up with a 64 GB TF card with a mix of folders with spoken word and music. I have not yet got around to creating playlists but as I tend to put "mixes" into folders its probably something I wouldnt bother with anyway. Battery life seems quite good - 5 hours including some fiddling about with the player and the display being on a lot. The FM radio has quite poor reception indoors, but good outdoors. YMMV on this of course. I cant really see me using the pedometer, nor the record function as it only records from an in built microphone not from the radio. Im pleased that for sub £20 it plays a variety of music formats including FLAC, so many of my archived files I dont have to convert ( though FLAC does take up more memory space than MP3). Overall quite a nice little MP3 player for the money. Apparently comes with a 3 year guarantee too.

Decent, low cost player
This is my initial review of the player, comments on durability may follow. The player is matchbox sized, compact, physically comparable to a Sandisk sansa clip. Navigation around the various menus was quite straightforward, with a quick peek at the manual now and then. inserting a 64gb card and transferring tracks from my pc to it and the internal storage via the provided usb cable was standard and caused no problems. I've owned many mp3 players in my time, from cheap to quite expensive, and sound quality of this player nears the performance of players many, many times its price. Through a decent pair of Kef headphones or streamed via bluetooth to a AVR (again, no problems) the sound was pretty satisfying. Saw someone comment about lack of volume? I like like my music quite loud and this is perfectly adequate. For the money this is a good buy.

Tried 3 others - this is easily the best of all
Tried loads of these, owned others, three of the touchscreen options out there on amazon, this oakcastle is easily the best, this is the smallest little thing, absolutely tiny, but works great, a proper click to buttons, you know when you've pressed a button, seems obvious to say, but you need to know when you have pressed a button (or not) when playing music, the touchscreen models are too temperamental for this, there is no confidence when pressing buttons on the touchscreen models, but the oakcastle gives you that physical confidence (knowing that a click means an action is performed & completed) - a click suffices nicely. The playlist option is just great, very easy to do. The display is brilliant, much better than an album cover (imo) the display is a graphic equaliser moving image with song info also on screen. I have got over 800 320 kbps large file size music on this so far and still plenty of GB room left. Added a 64gb card fr a tenner into this machine so now will store loads and loads. In ear sound quality - brilliant, very clear, can hear music notes in this that were absent on other (soft touch screen options here on amazon.) Playing out loud: Perfect - especially with soundmotion boom I have. Would work great with JBL, Sony, W-king, Bose and other quality bluetooth speakers out there too. Works in car too, I have it plugged in to a male to male aux lead. This is the best and most dinky of all the mp3/bluetooth transmitters that I've tried here on the net.(which is a fair old few) Highly recommend this tiny, honest and great performing little gizmo for bluetooth speakers.

Smaller than expected, still a good player
I'd been looking at these for a short while, something to keep the kids entertained during lockdown without them glued to a screen. A deal popped up so I ordered 2. When they arrived I have to say I was quite surprised at the size and weight of the player and I hope that the small battery can last a decent amount of time listening to MP3 audio books and songs (will update review in due course). The FM radio and bluetooth options are a nice feature at this price point, although radio reception indoors is not great. The screen is small, yet clear - not quite the definition shown in the product images, but adequate non the less. 8GB onboard storage is a fair amount, although I will in the future be making use of the SD card function. This is because I'm guessing the device is USB 2 (at best). File transfer speed between computer (using a USB3 port) was very slow (~1 - 4 Mbps). The navigation interface is standard, although I have noticed that hidden folders are shown. For example, going into Music, then Files will show a "System Volume Information" folder, which by default on windows would be hidden. Overall I would recommend. The only reason I am able to write a review is that both of my kids are peacefully listening to childrens songs and audiobooks that I have loaded onto the players!!
