Big Game is an industry standard for a reason. The main complaint you will see about it is memory and line twist. Keep in mind that every time your spool makes a rotation when paying off line through your drag (when you are playing a fish), it puts a twist in the line. I recommend buying some PVA mesh. Depending on your rod and line test, put a rock, or a few, in a piece of PVA mesh, tie it up and tie the little package on the end of your line and cast it into the lake as far as you can. Let the PVA dissolve and reel your line back in, pinching the line between thumb and index finger in front of the reel. This will remove line twist. Secondly, memory can be managed by using line condition such as Reel Magic, as per the instructions on the can. When taking care of your line like this, combined with the strength of Big Game, there is no better, stronger and more reliable alternative, especially for the money.

By far the cheapest fishing line that I actually can tolerate. It’s a good mono that doesn’t stretch too much, but not too little.

15# Trilene is excellent. I got orange because I want to see my line. Pulled in a dozen Coho, the largest was 14 pounds. Strangely, I had the hook pull off the 20 pound leader instead of breaking my line.
