Works great, have to stick with it and follow directions!
I purchased this because in spite of doing everything below, I thought my dogs teeth needed a little bit of attention and couldn't afford vet cleaning on 3 dogs and a cat. My groomer had just finished trying this product out on her Yorkie and liked the results, so I gave it a try. First of all, you have to be dedicated when you first start using this. If your pet has tarter you will need to use this every night for the first 30-45 days. Follow the directions and do not let them eat at all after applying and don't let them drink until later. To help things along, I purchased Tartar Scraper - Double End . I can only use the small end due to the size of my dogs, so I also bought a tooth scraper and dental pick in the toothbrush aisle at Walgreens. After applying the gel, I wait 15 minutes then lay down a towel to wipe the tools on and gently scrape away tarter. The front canines are usually pretty easy, but the smaller tools work best when getting the back teeth, at least on small dogs. If you haven't had your dogs teeth cleaned, there are probably several layers of tarter on the back teeth. Using the pick you can gently poke at these layers and chunks will come off. Then use the scraper to get a little more off. repeat the next night or alternate scraping with brushing. I use a double sided brush to get the back and front teeth at the same time. I buy different types of treats for my dogs and keep them all in a large Rubbermaid container on top of the fridge. The dogs go nuts every time I reach for that box. I think they enjoy the variety because after I give them their treat they still look at me like "what else is she gonna give us" and sometimes I swear it's more like "but mom, I don't like that kind, I want the other one". I mix all kinds of mainly dental treats together in the box. Rawhide sticks (all colors and flavors, not just green ones), Greenies, Dingos, CET and also use some rawhide bones. These treats help scrape plaque from their teeth while chewing before tarter can form if given after meals or once a day. My dogs do not get soft food or treats unless we are training. Saving soft treats for training makes them want it all the more and the hard food is better for their teeth and digestion. I have a Miniature Pinscher and 2 Pomeranians that are prone to tooth loss so taking care of their teeth is very important to me. My oldest Pomeranian is 6 years old and just had his first professional cleaning and that was mainly because it is hard for me to get his back teeth because his mouth is so tiny. They love when they see the bag of treats come out of the cupboard because they now it's the soft stuff or the small one bite treats and they are more receptive to training and their sessions go much faster. I would recommend these treats as part of a variety. Mix it up so your dog doesn't get bored and use different shapes to get different angles on their teeth. [...] Thanks!

Me: "Works Great" Dog: "I Hate This Stuff!!!"
My review: This stuff is awesome. My dog gets horrible breath, and this stuff does the trick. Plus, it does a great job of loosening up the tartar in his teeth so I can brush it away. Brushing alone, his bad breath comes back in a couple hours. Combined with the stuff that I put in his water from the same brand, I don't really have to brush at all. Once the first bottle of this stuff ran out, I tried going without it for awhile, but the nasty breath came back after a month or 2. I have no idea how squirting this stuff on his teeth works, but it does. He hates the taste of it, but sucks for him, because I hate his breath more. And since this is my house, he'll just have to suffer with the taste of this stuff. My Dog's Review: This is the worst thing on the face of this earth!!! That little green bottle is terrifying. All of the delicious table scraps and deer poo flavor on my teeth gets replaced by this disgusting minty stuff... and I hate my life. No amount of struggling and glaring at my owner afterward seems to deter him. And I think he may be putting something in my water, too... I'm pretty sure it's poison. At least he's stopped assaulting me with that horrible toothbrush. Somebody please rescue me from this-- is that a cookie?... Forgot what I was going to say. I love my life. Owner gives 5 stars, dog gives -10 stars, but since nobody really cares very much about the dog's opinion (and since he can't count), let's say 4 stars is fair.

Wow!
This stuff is amazing! I have an elderly dog and I was concerned about treating her teeth with harsh chemicals. She has bad arthritis and can't chew much anymore for keeping her teeth clean. Unfortunately, I have really bad health and haven't been able to help her with her teeth in a few years so she had a lot of plaque build up and her breath was getting bad. This took away her bad breath in about a week (you used to be able to smell it a few feet away from her). After 30 days of use, she still has plaque (not surprising as there was A LOT to start with) but you can see it's melting off her teeth. I'd say she has about 1/3 more left to go. If I was well enough to scrape her teeth I'm sure her teeth would be 100% clean now. I would definitely buy this again for her. Now for my cat...first time I put this in his mouth was quite entertaining. He acted like I took some poo on a q-tip and smeared it in his mouth. He was so horrified and desperately tried to scrape it off his tongue. This was his first experience with mint, or me putting anything in his mouth really. The more I used it, the calmer he was about it. He doesn't like it but he will tolerate it. I had to stop using after a week as he got into something he is allergic to and I wasn't going to make him eat this while he was suffering from the food allergy. (He is not allergic to this for sure) I will say for anyone using this on cats, the directions say 2 drops on both sides of mouth for either dog or cat. Considering dogs come in all sizes I am skeptical about this one size fits all measuring. I use the four drops total on my 24lb corgi but my cat started salivating really badly when that much is used. I think it's too much for their small mouth. So, I used one drop on either side at most (2 drops total used) and it doesn't make him salivate. If you have a really small cat (~6lb) I'd recommend one drop total. You can always increase it later if it's not working well enough but my cat is way more comfortable with a bit less than they say.

Amazing! It works!
My vet told me my dog needed extractions and a cleaning. I am not fond of these cleanings. They cost over $600 (at least) and the dog has to go under anesthesia. I had not been diligent about brushing my dog's teeth (but I am sure am now!) so a lot of tarter was built up along the back teeth and molars. His front teeth were pretty good except one was yellow. I feed a mostly raw diet and I can say that helps A LOT. BUT he still needs his teeth brushed. His breath had become WICKED! Just disgusting! You could smell his breath from across the room. I was starting to actually not like my dog because he was so smelly and gross. Something had to change. My mom mentioned she used this. Me being a "crunchy mom" immediately thought- no way, I'm not putting a bunch of chemicals into my dog's mouth! BUT then I read the ingredients and googled each one. Satisfied I'm not poisoning my dog, I purchased and started using it. We are about 2 weeks into applications now and I can see a noticeable difference. The back teeth are still yellow so I'm hoping by day #30 they get better. The best part is his breath no longer smells like death. I can actually hug and pick him up again. I remember smelling his puppy breath when I first got him. It was so cute. It's almost like that again! I do also brush his teeth now DAILY and I put the water additive (also sold by this same brand) into his water. I'm giving him the dental chews (bought another brand) as well but he's not into those so much. All in all, I am just SO happy that this stuff works! It literally made me love my once stinky dog again! My dog, by the way, is six years old and is a "shi-poo".

Think this is working but packaging stinks
I THINK this product is working but it's tough to tell right now. I'm writing this to help others who may have trouble actually getting it into their dog's mouth. My dog has tartar on the far back molars only. She's a recent adoption & just a year old but her breath could kill. Vet was ready to anesthetize her & scale her teeth but I wanted to try this first. The packaging for this gel is absolutely crappy for delivery of the gel to the back teeth of a 45 pd wiggly puppy who absolutely HATES the process. She doesn't mind the taste just the process. A 2 man job & I could never tell if I was actually getting it on the teeth needed. Plus bottle is hard to squeeze the gel out of & you subsequently end up using way more than you need. But the breath is better & it looks like the tartar may be lessening after 7-10 days. So if you try this product save yourself & your dog some anguish. Buy a 5-10cc syringe (obviously without a needle), load it with the gel, then you can just slip the syringe in the side of the dog's mouth to the back teeth & PRESTO...1 person can accomplish easy accurate delivery with no wasted product & you don't traumatize the dog.

One of the best dog toothpastes I've bought
I did a lot of research when trying to find a toothpaste for my toy poodle, Cookie. We had previously been buying him a toothpaste that tasted like chicken, but the smell it left in his mouth was a deterrent when he went in to lick our faces. Then I came upon this brand. At first I thought it was a little pricey for the amount of toothpaste being purchased. But I will admit that I was impressed with how it performed in my dog. It had a pleasant smell, mint, and Cookie really liked it, which pleased me. When brushing his teeth, I purchase toothbrushes meant for toddlers rather than a special dog toothbrush. Since he is small, the size works for him. Anyways, do not expect instant results when you first use it, the only noticeable change was in the odor of his breath, which was much more pleasant. But if you use it continuously, even if it is once a day, you will quickly see results. Now I'll admit I don't brush my dog's teeth every day, but even then, his teeth are still pretty clean and he does not have as much plaque on his teeth as he did before I started using this product for him. So I encourage anyone who is looking for a toothpaste to try this one out because good oral health is very important for a dog's overall health. And once you get into a routine it is pretty easy to remember to brush your dog's teeth. In fact, my dog's tail starts wagging whenever he sees me with his toothbrush.

Fresh breath for dogs!
This toothpaste is very dog-friendly. You don’t even need to brush your dog’s teeth—just let them lick it, and after about 30 minutes, their breath smells much fresher.

Amazing product - Worked in one week!
I used this for one week, and my dogs plaque came right off. So happy with the results! To use the product, I put 2 drops on a toothbrush and brushed it on one side of her mouth. Then I did the same for her other side. I did this once a day. After one week, the plaque started to become less. My husband actually used his fingernail to break the plaque right off. It popped right off in one piece and was incredible satisfying. We had tried doing this in the past but it never worked so using this product definitely helped loosen it up. The flavour smells nice and minty, so I like it. My dog not so much. It would be nice if it came in beef or pork flavour instead. I will continue to use this product for her back teeth, it definitely works! I reccomend applying it with a toothbrush.
