Works great, have to stick with it and follow directions!
I purchased this because in spite of doing everything below, I thought my dogs teeth needed a little bit of attention and couldn't afford vet cleaning on 3 dogs and a cat. My groomer had just finished trying this product out on her Yorkie and liked the results, so I gave it a try.First of all, you have to be dedicated when you first start using this. If your pet has tarter you will need to use this every night for the first 30-45 days. Follow the directions and do not let them eat at all after applying and don't let them drink until later. To help things along, I purchased Tartar Scraper - Double End. I can only use the small end due to the size of my dogs, so I also bought a tooth scraper and dental pick in the toothbrush aisle at Walgreens. After applying the gel, I wait 15 minutes then lay down a towel to wipe the tools on and gently scrape away tarter. The front canines are usually pretty easy, but the smaller tools work best when getting the back teeth, at least on small dogs. If you haven't had your dogs teeth cleaned, there are probably several layers of tarter on the back teeth. Using the pick you can gently poke at these layers and chunks will come off. Then use the scraper to get a little more off. repeat the next night or alternate scraping with brushing. I use a double sided brush to get the back and front teeth at the same time.I buy different types of treats for my dogs and keep them all in a large Rubbermaid container on top of the fridge. The dogs go nuts every time I reach for that box. I think they enjoy the variety because after I give them their treat they still look at me like "what else is she gonna give us" and sometimes I swear it's more like "but mom, I don't like that kind, I want the other one".I mix all kinds of mainly dental treats together in the box. Rawhide sticks (all colors and flavors, not just green ones), Greenies, Dingos, CET and also use some rawhide bones. These treats help scrape plaque from their teeth while chewing before tarter can form if given after meals or once a day. My dogs do not get soft food or treats unless we are training. Saving soft treats for training makes them want it all the more and the hard food is better for their teeth and digestion.I have a Miniature Pinscher and 2 Pomeranians that are prone to tooth loss so taking care of their teeth is very important to me. My oldest Pomeranian is 6 years old and just had his first professional cleaning and that was mainly because it is hard for me to get his back teeth because his mouth is so tiny. They love when they see the bag of treats come out of the cupboard because they now it's the soft stuff or the small one bite treats and they are more receptive to training and their sessions go much faster.I would recommend these treats as part of a variety. Mix it up so your dog doesn't get bored and use different shapes to get different angles on their teeth.[...] Thanks!

Good for your dog's teeth
I use this every night on my sweet dog. His teeth are white, and he loves the flavor of mint. It is a win-win for both of us. I think it is good for his gums and prevents uncomfortable and expensive teeth cleaning at the vet.

It helps; here are my tips
I've been using this gel on my 4yr old shih tzu - terrier mix, and while I didn't have quite the dramatic results that some of the other reviewers saw, it definitely helps my pooch and I'm happy to continue using it as part of her teeth cleaning routine. My dog hadn't had her teeth professionally cleaned by the vet in approximately two years, and I feel bad because I'd let her teeth get out of hand, the plaque was really starting to build up and her breath was stinky and her gums were super red. I was reluctant to have her teeth cleaned so often (every year) because of the need for anaesthesia, but I also realized that if I didn't step up my care of my pup's teeth she was gonna lose her teeth early. So last November (it's May as I write this) I began to train her to let me brush her teeth. I use the C.E.T. brand of enzymatic toothpaste. She loves the flavors, like a treat, but the downside is it didn't leave fresh breath. Also while I saw slow improvement, it was more time intensive (10-15 min, which I recognize isn't that much time, but... It did get forgotten), and I searched Amazon for something to pair with my efforts. In February, I came across this gel. The reviews are great, and for the cheap price, it seemed easy to try. To be honest she doesn't love the taste! When I get out her toothbrush and toothpaste she is excited and licks her lips, but she's not really into this gel and advoided it at first. I persisted though because I could tell she wasn't distressed about the gel in her mouth, just picky, haha. So what I do is, once a day I wait until she's calmly sleeping, and then without showing her the bottle, I put a drop on my finger, gently lift her lip, and quickly swipe across her teeth, back to front. Then I give her lots of praise and pats, and she doesn't mind at all, she's used to it now. I do this for times, two drops each side, if she stays chill. But if she gets up and walks away (which she'll occasionally do), I'll let her be and don't force it. Usually I do this at night when I'm getting ready for bed myself. This works for us. And because I don't force her with the teeth cleaning routines and keep it positive, she is more willing and happy.Along with gel, and brushing her teeth 4x a week (sometimes more; I recommend doing it while watching TV!), I've seen huuuuuge improvement in her mouth health. There's still a bit of plaque and tartar that I hope to see lessen over time, but her gums are healthy and her breath is nice.By the way, I recommend washing your hands after applying the gel or brushing your dog's teeth, dog's mouths aren't the cleanest. Although I do let my dog lick me so I recognize the irony ha...!Happy overall. Best in conjunction with brushing, but definitely a speedy way to freshen breath and help clean teeth between brushings. Now if only I could figure out how to clean my finnicky old rescue cat's teeth.....!

Finally—Something That Actually Helps My Dog’s Breath!
My dog’s breath could clear a room, no joke. I started using this clean teeth gel, and it’s made a huge difference. Her breath is noticeably better, and she doesn’t fight me when I apply it—major win.I also feel good knowing it’s likely helping reduce bacteria in her mouth, not just masking the smell. Her teeth are looking cleaner too, and I’ve noticed less gunk around the gumline. If your pup has dragon breath and you’re tired of dodging kisses, give this a try. It really works!

This Really Works!
A friend recommended this to me. She first purchased Tropiclean at a holistic pet store and told me about it. I have a 10 year old border collie with breath that could take out a whole room! He will not hold still for a good tooth brushing so that was somewhat of an impossibility. I wanted a fairly low maintenance product that would be easy to apply so I opted to try Tropiclean.I was hell bent on fixing the halitosis issue so this is what I did. First, I began giving my dog about a Tablespoon of liquid chlorophyl as I noticed he was eating grass (obviously needed some enzymnes). I also give him digestive enzymes after eating and probiotics once a day. This is to insure that digestive issues are not adding to the nasty breath. As I supplemented daily with the aforementioned, I began using Tropiclean. Within one week, I noticed a marked difference! His teeth are whiter by the day and the plaque is undoubtedly disappearing. His breath smells better every day. This is definitely the way to maintain a healthy mouth for your dog. Once I get the his pearly whites back (I plan on daily applications for a month), I will maintain treatment 2-3 times a week. It is easy..no brushing..no mess. It is also much better than taking them to the vet and having them sedated while they scrape the plaque away...particularly for an older dog like mine who should not be put under. As soon as I can get a hold of my cat, he's getting his mouth "freshened." I am going to try the water conditioner next. If I wasn't so astounded by this product, I would never have taken the time to write this review. I definitely recommend this product to all dog and cat owners! You will not be sorry.

Works great, but not for sensitive stomachs
I would skip this if your dog has a sensitive stomach. One of my dogs diarrhea’d down my hallway after I gave her this. My other dog doesn’t like the taste, but it doesn’t cause her any stomach pain. It works well enough that I’ll finish the bottle, but I’ll probably switch to some kind of chew after we finish it. It’s too big of a hassle to get my dog to take it.

It works!
I brush my dog’s teeth with arm and hammer toothpaste every single day. I also do the water additive, but it won’t take off the plaque. Previous to this, I’ve used a number of other products, but the plague and tartar got noticeably worse. And with my current routine, the tarter didn’t get worse, but it didn’t get better either. Just stayed put.I’ve been using this for three days on my dog, and I’m already noticing an improvement in his back teeth. There used to be an aggregation of yellow tartar, but that is all starting to fall off. I’ve been adding this to my current routine, and it’s working so well!Highly, highly recommend. I almost considered bringing him in to get a dental, but it doesn’t look like that’s needed anymore.Update about after 3 months: The yellow plaque in his back teeth is almost gone, so I'm super happy with this regime. I find this specific product is better used together in combination with a dog toothpaste, and it works more effectively when brushed on.So I start by using the arm and hammer toothpaste first, and then follow up with this gel afterwards. You also have to be very specific about when you brush too. I find brushing in the evening hours after dinner works best.Brushing in circular motions helps get the full range needed to remove plaque that's closer to the gumline.

Wow!
This stuff is amazing! I have an elderly dog and I was concerned about treating her teeth with harsh chemicals. She has bad arthritis and can't chew much anymore for keeping her teeth clean. Unfortunately, I have really bad health and haven't been able to help her with her teeth in a few years so she had a lot of plaque build up and her breath was getting bad. This took away her bad breath in about a week (you used to be able to smell it a few feet away from her). After 30 days of use, she still has plaque (not surprising as there was A LOT to start with) but you can see it's melting off her teeth. I'd say she has about 1/3 more left to go. If I was well enough to scrape her teeth I'm sure her teeth would be 100% clean now. I would definitely buy this again for her.Now for my cat...first time I put this in his mouth was quite entertaining. He acted like I took some poo on a q-tip and smeared it in his mouth. He was so horrified and desperately tried to scrape it off his tongue. This was his first experience with mint, or me putting anything in his mouth really. The more I used it, the calmer he was about it. He doesn't like it but he will tolerate it. I had to stop using after a week as he got into something he is allergic to and I wasn't going to make him eat this while he was suffering from the food allergy. (He is not allergic to this for sure)I will say for anyone using this on cats, the directions say 2 drops on both sides of mouth for either dog or cat. Considering dogs come in all sizes I am skeptical about this one size fits all measuring. I use the four drops total on my 24lb corgi but my cat started salivating really badly when that much is used. I think it's too much for their small mouth. So, I used one drop on either side at most (2 drops total used) and it doesn't make him salivate. If you have a really small cat (~6lb) I'd recommend one drop total. You can always increase it later if it's not working well enough but my cat is way more comfortable with a bit less than they say.

Amazing product - Worked in one week!
I used this for one week, and my dogs plaque came right off. So happy with the results! To use the product, I put 2 drops on a toothbrush and brushed it on one side of her mouth. Then I did the same for her other side. I did this once a day. After one week, the plaque started to become less. My husband actually used his fingernail to break the plaque right off. It popped right off in one piece and was incredible satisfying. We had tried doing this in the past but it never worked so using this product definitely helped loosen it up.The flavour smells nice and minty, so I like it. My dog not so much. It would be nice if it came in beef or pork flavour instead.I will continue to use this product for her back teeth, it definitely works! I reccomend applying it with a toothbrush.
