Less useful than I expected
Each page has two overhead views of a snooker table. Each view illustrates one shot and has a few sentences of commentary. You have to look quite carefully at the pictures to understand them: the balls have a diameter of about 1 millimetre (1/25 inches) and are not easy to see against the dark green cloth. Almost all of the commentaries start with "Set the balls up as illustrated." which seems rather redundant. The explanation is minimal and describes only the shot as shown. It would be more useful if variations were mentioned. Despite these reservations, the book does have some good ideas for shots to practice, although experienced players probably know most of them already.

Helps with shot selection and practice sessions.
I bought this book to use in conjunction with "147 Snooker drills and Exercises", both are good books but let down in the same areas relating to the diagrams. They they are just a little too small when the cloth is shown as dark green, and it is really hard to differentiate which ball is which sometimes. The cloth area would have been better represented as just white, albeit then not realistic but at least you would then be able to see the colour of the respective balls more easily, and the size of the diagrams would then not be so much of a problem. At the very least the cloth could have been represented by a much lighter shade of green, but personally I think white would have been better given the overall size of the book (about A5 size). Together this would have made the respective shots more easily and quickly understood, using the narrative and diagrams together. That said you do eventually understand what is required, but it could/should be much simpler. The book itself is useful reading having returned to snooker after a few too many years away, just helps remind me of shot possibilities which i can then practice down at the club, so it is helping to rebuild my shot capabilities. Again another really good book by the author which will hopefully help me improve my game and shot selection, and but for the above would have been 5 stars!

Diagrams impossible to see
Bought the 147 Snooker Drills and Snooker Shots paperbacks as a gift for my husband. He was disappointed to discover that the balls in the diagrams were too tiny to see without a magnifying glass. Not only that, being red/green colour blind, he could not see the red ones even under a magnifying glass. It might have helped a bit if they had been printed with a light/white coloured background to represent the table surface instead of green. It's really a shame because the content is fine, and the paper is good quality.
