Heublein president John Martin had recently purchased the Smirnoff name and recipe for his American company, and he was out to promote his new product. As the story goes, Martin stopped off for dinner and drinks at the Cock ’n’ Bull on Sunset Strip, where his friend, owner Jack Morgan, was struggling to sell his homemade ginger beer. Add to the mix another friend who had inherited a large collection of copper mug and a wedge of lime—and you have the Moscow Mule. Martin combined three seemingly hopeless endeavors into one of the most popular cocktails of the 1950s and early 1960s. He even got stars like Woody Allen to promote his concoction. ----- TO Prepare a moscow mule, you will need: - 1 Copper Mug - 1/2 lime - 2 ounces vodka - 4 to 6 ounces ginger beer, preferably homemade or Cock'n Bull or D&G Old Jamaica brands ----- Squeeze lime into Collins glass (or copper mug) and drop in half lime. Add 2 or 3 large ice cubes, then pour in the vodka and fill with cold ginger beer. Serve with a stirring rod.

Great copper mugs and well worth the money

12 Ounces, not 16
As of 1/10/16, description states that these cups hold 16 ounces. Cups seemed small upon arrival, measured with water to brim and cup holds just over 12 ounces. Too small for my needs. Otherwise, they seem to be of decent quality, look nice, can't comment on durability as I will be returning these due to size issue. Hope this helps!

Not 16oz at all more like a usable 12oz
These are very high quality heavy weight attractive copper mugs and the stainless handle gives it a very unique look. The only problem is they ARE NOT 16 OZ - the are barely 14 OZ!!! I carefully measured the volume several times to confirm this - at 14 OZ the liquid crests the top, so they are probably more like usable 12 OZ. I was sooo disappointed after I opened them and realized this - I had to return them since they are too small for a standard mule recipe. They really need to change the description of this product.

Love the workmanship
These were definitely in the more expensive range of options available when selecting copper mug for making Mules (Kentucky Mules to be specific). However, we are very pleased with the heft and quality of these mugs, it just makes the experience all the more enjoyable. They might be slighly smaller than a standard Mule cup however my loves the size. A suggestion would be to rinse and dry the same evening of use rather than leaving overnight. Cheers!

I love the mugs
I love the mugs! They are so beautiful and well-made! And the price is quite a steal considering the better-quality mugs are on the expensive side. As for the size, slightly smaller than the usual but that's the size I'm looking for, so no complaints.
