East Africa Birds: A Folding Pocket Guide to Familiar Species in Kenya, Tanzania & Uganda (Wildlife and Nature Identification)

I found this Pocket Guide, along with the East Africa Wildlife, to be very informative. I studied these guides prior to my 11 day safari through Kenya, and referred to then at each days end, as well. I would highly recommend both of these East Africa Pocket Guides.

I went to Kenya on safari last year and what a great addition this guide was. Highlights all the major bird species you might see in East Africa. It's laminated so easy to clean and small enough to tuck into my camera bag.

Great reference when you're traveling in Africa.

I used this as a handy guide during a recent safari in Tanzania. This does not replace a detailed guidebook, but was a nice, lightweight, waterproof reference for many of the birds we saw.

Great reference booklet, great for Quick Look while on safari.

This is light, compact, and groups the birds in a very logical way, making it easy to find what you are looking at. The problem is that what you are looking at isn't always there. Some of the most common birds of Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya, like red-billed oxpeckers, social weavers, and various shrikes and starlings were not listed. East Africa is so very rich with exotic birds that a more extensive field guide is definitely necessary. This is good to decide before the trip what you would like to see so you can ask your tour guide.

I used this throughout Kenya and Tanzania while on Safari. Everyone in our Land Cruiser was thankful to see closeup pics of the birds we were seeing. The laminate was great to keep clean and it was used multiple times a day! I even checked off the birds as we saw them. Could easily write on it with a pen. Highly recommend!

I just returned from a safari in Africa. That little booklet was very good and remarkably comprehensive. I highly recommend it.

I took this field guide to Africa last fall, and I used it every day - and it got passed around the jeep to other folks on the tour who wanted to look up birds they photographed. The drawings are good in that they show key features or colours that differentiate the birds from each other. I used this pamplet more than the wildlife one that I also took with us, and was very happy to have it. I highly recommend this if visiting Kenya and Tanzania. We saw most of these birds!

Excellent pocket book that you can easily bring with you while on safari. My kids love to find the name of the bird they can see

Beautiful illustrations making it easy to identify birds. Well printed and stood up to rigours of our safari. Highly recommended.

Good and handy for travellers. Not too much detail though but definitely helps during safaris. But too costly
