The only downside there is the awful smell is just that much closer to your nose...Maybe adding tea tree oil to my better smelling soap will be just as effective (and smell just as awful), but I haven't tried it and I like having better skin, so this is pretty worth it. Give it a try! The other day my husband said he loves that I have such soft skin, I told him it's because of the soap I use. I still use it for shaving & I absolutely love it as a face wash. Yes, if it gets in your eyes it kinda burns but ANY soap you get in your eyes will do that. Oh & yes it is very runny but let me tell ya, it doesn't take much to lather.. I have to use a soap at work & wash my hands 3-4 times in a work day, the minute I get home I wash with this soap & IT gets all the dirt and filth off that "regular" soap doesn't..how do I know, the black/brown stuff in the bottom of my sink after washing my hands. So after 5 yrs of using this soap, it still gets 5 stars from me. I will continue to use it. ** original review ** I don't care for that Dr. "whoever" castile soap. But this castile soap I love.
