Pops drawers!
This did the trick. It pops drawers like rappers pop bottles (I think). Our drawers came with the RJ11/12 cable, so you will need that if you don't have one. This then connects to power/USB and triggers your drawer based on your sales program's signal.

Works with APG POS; seen as a serial port device
APG has discontinued production of their own RJ-to-USB adapters. Fortunately, this adapter works in its place. Note that despite converting to USB, the computer treats this as a serial adapter, not USB. So during configuration, make sure you choose the SERIAL cash drawer option, and all should work fine.

Replace an Unsupported Printer that Opened the Cash Box
I was very frustrated after my printer/cash box open was no longer supported. This was the best solution. All I needed was to open the cash box. I did not need a printer.

Use correct cable
Works with Windows 11, I had trouble setting up, but works when I realized I was using phone cable instead of register cable
