I'm 41 and I've never had real issues with my scalp. This might be a long review, but I hope the read is with it to someone. I can only speak to how this shampoo worked for my problem, but here's the honest to God truth... I noticed bumps forming on my scalp over the last 4 months. They weren't itchy and I didn't notice any dryness. I asked my hairdresser about them bc they were now becoming something I was becoming self conscious about. She attributed them to using the same shampoo for a while and recommended switching it up and provided me with a list of shampoos. She also said something about a scalp treatment with mint or rosemary or something like that (I can't remember honestly) that she said would tingle and feel really good. I was super excited for a possible solution. Now at this point, I was also noticing that I was picking at the bumps, causing scabbing; gross, I know. Well, I switched up my shampoo and after a couple weeks, no change. In fact, bc of my obsessive picking, those scabs were now sores and actually bleeding a ton. My husband was horrified at what I was doing to make a bad situation worse. I hopped on trusty ol' Amazon and started looking up treatments for scabs and crap like that. Of course everything for psoriasis and other chronic issues popped up, but not having dealt with anything like this except for the last few months, I was a little overwhelmed with all the options. I found this product and for whatever reason, decided to pull the trigger and purchase it. The price was fair, it seemed to cover a bunch of scalp issues, and the reviews were encouraging. It arrived to my house 4 days ago. I did my first wash with it the day it came. Fast forward 3 days in a row of using it and my scalp is almost completely healed!! I'm not blowing smoke, getting a kick back from the company, or is someone that has a stake in the shampoo game. I am just genuinely relieved, happy, thrilled, and all the other things that when literally after only 3 washes, my scalp was incredibly improved, probably back to 95% normal. I'm finding there is nothing to pick which of course had also helped the healing! It says no scent, but I honestly think it kind of smells like chocolate lol. A little goes a long way. I used about a 1 in circle on my palm and it lathered nicely. There is no weird residue or feeling to my hair. I left it on my scalp for about 2-3 min as it suggests. I'm so impressed with the quality of this shampoo and how it truly helped me! I really hope my experience may help someone, but if this is a hail Mary type of purchase like mine was, this is where you should start!!!

This is a really good shampoo if you struggle with oily hair or an oily scalp. My hair used to get greasy almost daily, which was frustrating, so I started looking into products that could help balance my scalp a little better. After doing some research, I learned that sometimes the scalp can become irritated and produce extra oil to protect itself. This shampoo contains salicylic acid, which I think really helps cleanse the scalp and reduce buildup. Since using it, I’ve been able to go one extra day without washing my hair, which has made a big difference. I now wash every other day instead of daily, and my hair still looks much better in between washes. My scalp also feels cleaner, fresher, and less irritated overall. I can definitely feel the effect. It’s also fragrance-free, which I really appreciate if you’re sensitive to scents or prefer simpler products. The volume of bottles is on the smaller side, but you only need a small amount each time. It lathers really well, so a little goes a long way. Of course, it’s more of a management solution than a permanent fix, but it has helped a lot. It’s also a great option if you deal with dandruff, buildup, or excess oil.

This stuff genuinely works. As someone that has suffered with s. derm for many many painstaking years, this is the first shampoo I've used that has instantly removed the flakes from my scalp. Just from one use, letting it sit on my hair for maybe 5 or 6 minutes then gently scrubbing my scalp with a pick, after my wash the flakes had lifted visibly in my hair and the few remaining flakes on my scalp lifted so easily just from regular combing. Zero irritation, no redness, no tingling, no pain. Wow. I can honestly say this may be the first time in 28 years that my scalp has felt 100% clean after washing due to stubborn sebhorric dermatitis. 100/10, this stuff works. Well worth the money, will be a lifetime buyer. UPDATE: I've continued to use this product, rotating between other shampoos and products that do not feed sebhorric dermatitis (vanicream shampoo, ketoconizole shampoo 2% shampoo, herbal essences chamomile conditioner, and asiam coconut essence leave in conditioner). My scalp is completely free of flakes still, way less itchy, and I continue to use TSAL as the strongest shampoo to fully cleanse my scalp. Yes, the routine is pricey, but it is very well worth it. Please do research on products that will not trigger break outs and reactions, with sebhorric dermatitis this is very important as even ONE product misused can trigger flakes.

I use this to help maintain my scalp folliculitis. I don't have dandruff. After several trial and error attempts with different shampoos, this is the product that works best for my scalp. My routine is 5min soak of dye free antimicrobial/antiseptic cleanser. Then 5 min soak of Tsal. Then another 5 min soak of T/sal with a dollop of another shampoo (I use aveeno apple cider vinegar). And I complete the routine with conditioner. The price has increased so much over the years, it used to be under $5 in 2025. I only use a dime size for each step and thankfully it lathers enough for me to massage my scalp. I have long hair, about 4inchs from shoulder. It does dry out the scalp, but that's why it is important to follow up with conditioner. 4 stars because the price keeps rising for a small container. Hope this review is helpful to someone.

this stuff really does work! i have 4c texture hair and have struggled with persistent dandruff and itchy scalp for well over a year by now. i would wash my hair and immediately see flakes the next day, if not right after stepping out the shower. it was incredibly annoying, and this was my last resort before giving up on having dandruff-free hair. i put this on my scalp and waited 10 minutes before washing it out and doing a deep conditioner afterwards. when i looked at my hair it was completely flake-free!! no more flakes on my shoulders, no more constant itchy scalp, i literally almost cried. don't hesitate, just buy it!!

This stuff has changed my hair care routine for the better. It smells kinda like wet newspaper, but it's not so bad. I only need a little bit, my hair is very fine and shoulder length, I mainly use it on my scalp a couple times a week - I wash my hair every 3-4 days instead of every other day now, because it doesn't get as greasy anymore. My hair comes out ridiculously shiny and soft. I do use a dry shampoo every other day or so (Drop dead Gorgeous works for me) and I still cannot believe how great my hair looks and feels since I've started using this - no more greasy rat hair after one single day, no more irritation on my scalp, no itchiness, and it smells completely neutral after it's rinsed out. Lather it and let it soak in for a few minutes! Try it, you won't regret it!

This is a solid clarifying shampoo and i liked the way it made my scalp feel fresh. However, it did not really help treat my dandruff in the long run which was the main reason why I was interested in trying it

It works ! Doesn’t lather well but my scalp is so much better after one wash ! I left it on for a few minutes and dried normally. The bumps are much better and not itchy just wish it wasn’t so expensive for so little

Works like a magic on head acne

seems like every shampoo i used caused some kind of negative result on my scalp; even the expensive ones from my dermotologist. I used to get soreness on my scalp, flaking and dry skin after shampooing and after a day, my scalp is super itchy and oily. Even though i washed twice a day, i was getting this and it was soooo frustrating. After research i looked for shampoos with salylicic acid and this Neutrogena one is awesome!! There is no smell and it lathers up well so you don’t need much at a time. During the wash, i did not feel the soreness and post wash my scalp felt so free; like it could breathe again!! Its the second day now and my scalp is not oily or itchy and no hairs falling out too. Will definitely buy again!!

I keep a bottle in reserve in the event my scalp relapses. This stuff has always helped with damage control. I did figure out that changing your shampoo and conditioner to something that actually works for you, is how you stop using this stuff altogether. For me I used the Royal Oils line from Head and Shoulders, for others it might be different. I have black hair so dandruff is a nightmare for me. This stuff does work for TEMPORARY damage control, but you need to find a better shampoo and conditioner to actually address your scalp's needs.

Soothes my itchy scalp and hair wasn't too dry after using. Didn't help the hair flaking problem very much tho. Bottle is very small, considered expensive.
