While these panels will work great for paintings, I purchased these artist wood panels as part of a photo mosaic for my beloved Chihuahua who passed away in December. The fact that these panels can be used for a paining or photos on what is considered the front of the panel, turning it around makes a perfect shadow box for either photos or a painting. The depth is perfect and gives a great contrast when you use the front for one box, and the "shadow box" side of another. I like the quality of the wood - it is smooth and I find that picture corner stickers work great on the wood and stick well. Not only can you use these for paintings or photos, they can be used for so many different things - a box you can put your keys and other stuff in when you get home, the foundation for a therapeutic sand box that you can make using a small lounge chair and umbrella, and/or a box you can keep small parts in when you are building or working on something. The options are limitless and I highly recommend these artist wood panels. What creative ideas will these boxes bring out in you?

I am one of the artists who has changed from stretched canvas to this media of framed board. It is a more expensive product then canvas but it has many advantages and can be used for acrylic, ink, and the new media of alcohol inks. It does need to be prepared before painting and I have found that Kilz Sealer and Stain Blocker needs to be applied first and then a coating of Gesso. These cradled birch wooden painting surfaces are wonderful for Pour Painting, I use the smaller product and they easily to go from finish to hanging because they do not require framing. I especially like being able to create triptychs' in one setting.

Il pacco è arrivato integro e senza danni. Una volta aperto ho potuto constatare una qualità forse superiore a quanto mi aspettavo, ben rifiniti, senza scheggiature, piani e non imbarcati, lèggerei piacevoli da tenere in mano. Me li aspettavo un po' più profondi, dalle descrizioni non si capisce molto, ma diciamo che sono profondi attorno ai 2 cm e a me piacciono alti almeno 4, ciò non significa che per il costo che hanno non siano più che accettabili, anzi, quando me li costruisco da solo vengono peggio e spendo di più, quindi, alla fine, ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo, buona fattura, arrivati presto, cosa pretendere di più?

Fantastic "real" birch wood craddled panels. Finished beautifully. Very happy!

I paint on boards and wanted robust enough boards, ideally with cradles, and these are them. Real value for money. The surfaces are really good and easy to prime with gesso - and then paint on.

Al principio se me hizo un precio exorbitante, lo compré porque de verdad me urgía hacer un trabajo con óleo en madera y me sorprendió la practicidad que tiene este material. Sólo necesita una buena imprimación con gesso y listo. Vale su precio pero hay que saber aprovecharlo. Sólo me gustaría que fuera más grande.

Professionally made. Everything in place. I applied Two coats of gesso and for good measure, one coat of flake white and it's taking oil paint so beautifully. I am very pleased.
