I'm 36 I think.
Took a shot at this despite reading that people were getting possibly lower quality versions than what WLToys offers. I can say I for sure got a legit version in original box with everything that should come with it. So maybe things have kind of ironed out involving bad inventory. The little car is fantastic and had a major following. You can upgrade this thing to ridiculous levels as a rally car, drift, monster truck, school bus, supercar, regular car, whatever. It's all been done by someone and they have extensive guides to share with you on how to do it and what to acquire (updated as new parts are released of course). If you are into 3D printing then you can start printing wheels, bodies, tires, mounts, girlfriends and boyfriends for your little car right away. Huge selection of user created and officially supported stuff for this model. The car is fast for it's size, really fast. The steering is proportional but you'll need to do some tuning to really be in control of it. The speed on the stock little thin tires makes handling a laughing affair which is a good thing! The more you put into this car the better it drives and it is a joy to dive in and make it what you want. You'll be surprised how quickly your 1/10, 1/12, 1/6, 1/24 whips start warming the bench as you throw this in your pocket or bag to everywhere you go instead. People see you with it driving around like a 9y/o and they say they have one too and now you have a 9y/o friend and you are officially part of the coolest gang in all hobby history. Welcome to the gang kid.

Great lil RC Drifter
Wanted to run mine for a week before did a review. I have Traxxas slash 4x4, RGT crawler and now this rally drift car. All I can say is it’s fun not tons of upkeep/repairs like a traxxas but same Type hobby grade RC car. Not the best outside like really doubt it can do anything but tarmac/really smooth dirt course but if got nice smooth piece of tarmac or black top it’s awesome. Indoors it’s cool except on thick carpet I noticed motor tends to get much warmer then when there is no clearance between car and the carpet surface. So far after a week I have rolled it bunch of times on tarmac and body holds up just as good as a traxxas no scraps or dents. Performance wise it’s pretty quick I haven’t tested it yet but I can see it being faster then my titan12 slash4x4. The servo is very quick response and the controller is top notch I actually wanted to set it to my traxxas but can’t 😢. Overall for price really can’t beat it and been trying get all my traxxas friends to get one as well lol

Fast, fun, needs tlc to make it right.
The car is fast, handles OK out of the box and looks good, has many different modifications but out of the box there is a lot of binding in the driveline and suspension. It really should get a tear down, lube and sanding in certain areas to make everything work right. The plastic internals are made sloppy in the diff, causing it to bind. Extra flashing on the plastic ball joints and such. It's a great car, ran good out of the box but definitely has the potential to be better. I wish I would have known this info before I bought mine as I have beat up the diffs pretty good before I knew how to look for these issues. Definitely recommend over mini z as it's cheaper, can fit the mini z bodies with very small amount of modification, it's faster, but you will need to do the above tear down before they control as well. So good that I bought a second one to modify differently.

Buy it before you can't
Definitely a fun little car. Seems to be well designed. Foam cushioned bumper is a nice touch. Based on its design alone, I'd say its a great value. The controller also feels well made. I've had WlToys in the past and they have always been durable. This car looks great and is super fast. It tracks straight with no trim adjustments needed out of the box. I did trim the throttle to maximize input. Running it down the street it keeps up with our 1:12 scales with 540 motors. I know nothing will improve since this is an older toy but it would be cool if it came with a set of drifting tires to swap out and an extra battery. But that's not reason not to buy. I ordered with a set of extra batteries and will consider the tires later. Lots of body options too!

Nice near hobby-grade small RC car, not a toy
I bought this on a lark when I saw one in a youtube video. I have had several RC cars in the past, and, for the money, this one's pretty hard to beat. More hobby grade than toy grade, this little car is fast and fun. Probably not for kids under 8-10 due to the speed of the car/skill required to pilot it properly. The supplied LiPo battery lasts about 20 minutes in mixed driving, and the brushed motor has plenty of power...will traction roll the car on surfaces the tires can grip. On a smoother/slicker surface, it will do drifts/spins with ease. So far, has survived moderate bashing with only modest scrapes to the aluminum undercarriage. I will probably buy another battery to extend run/play time, but, other than that, it's a great little RC package.

Great car but missing parts
Great little car, but mine came missing 2 pins for the body, so I have to try to find replacements. The car gets a little hot while running.

Fun for both my son and myself!
Originally bought this for my son, but I have been entertained by it as well. These will take a hit and keep on moving. We’ve crashed them pretty hard, but nothing has broken yet. Seem pretty durable.

Needs work straight out the box...
While I waited for this car to arrive, I did a ton of research. Yes it is highly modifiable, yes it can make a great drift car and yes they make alot of replacement/aftermarket parts for this. BUT brand new you will have A LOT of work to do. The wheels bind due to everything being too tight, and also due to defects in the driveshafts from manufacturing. Then the motor will get hot fast due to those said binding issues. Eventually causing the motor and/or servo to fail. Straight out the box mine did not work at all. The battery solder on the ESC was poor and it would turn itself off if it moved. Also the binding was so bad it barely even turned the wheels. In conclusion IF you are good at hobby grade RC, and IF your willing to put in the work; this will be a great car. But if your looking for a ready to run RC, that you can easily mod...THIS IS NOT THE CAR FOR YOU. Don't believe me? Search "wltoys k989 drivetrain" on YouTube. They will explain the issues and how to fix them. I just wish I would have seen that before I made this purchase.
