TOPENS TRF3 Safety Reflection Photocell Sensor

Until this was installed, we felt obliged to rush through the gate. To be honest, the first one didn’t work. Zach, our personal TOPENS customer service rep was always ready to answer. He was so responsive, day and night that I had to ask him if he was an Ai chatbot. He used regular language and assured me he was a real person. Anyway, he sent me a replacement right away and it works. It stops for anything in the laser line. Just another part that works perfectly on our perfect gate opener.

The safety reflection photocell works perfect. No flaws at all works as promised. I hired an electrician and he installed.

The install was very simple and the product worked as designed.. Lining up the reflector was challenging because it is not visible light beam. Also is only active while gate is active. I held reflector close to source and slowly backed away keeping beam aligned. Also had remote in my hand to operate gate.

After the first heavy rain, the thing was partially filled with water! Caused the motor to stop working and a callback to a job that I recently finished. P.O.S.

This makes safety so easy! Its a transmitter and receiver all in one. You only wire up the transmitter side and the reflector shoots the signal back. Saves a lot of hassle. I had to switch my NO/NC signal from what the controller instructions showed, but not a big deal at all.

I installed this with a Topens CK700 sliding gate opener and it works as expected. The wiring instructions weren't great but if you keep in mind it's just a SPDT switch than you could figure it out (I attached two photos of my wiring for reference). I placed the sensor on my gate post and the reflector on the other side of my driveway 15' away. It works as expected and reverse my gate as soon as anything moved across the sensor. You do have to provide your own wiring. I had a 20AWG 3 lead consolidated wire from a previous project that worked great. It's easier to set up than the cheaper two piece sensors and I consider this a safety requirement for any type of automated door.

Very convenient and helpful solution to obstacle avoidance for a sliding electronic gate! Quick to install with an eagle automated door opener. Do the alignment with the reflector in late evening or night as the beam is clearly visible. Wiring instructions from Topen that come with the product are clear, but to understand how to wire it with the gate opener, I had to connect with their tech support, who were extremely responsive and explained how to connect NO #4 output from this to reverse loop global input on the board and how to setup the pins. Tech support 5 stars here are for Eagle tech support. But overall, combined result was a very smooth, and uneventful installation that resulted in the exact functionality that was desired!

things to know, were not even mentioned in the instructions. number 1 is how to adjust the beam with the three tiny screws on the spring loaded printed wiring board, number 2 is that the spring strength varies markedly between units, number 3 is that the beam projection can be most easily seen at dusk to significantly aid in aligning the reflector disk. number 4, the description should have made clear that no wires are included which I had to pay extra for and delayed the installation. number 5, the toll free support number is worthless since you can’t directly speak to anyone, number 6, and most importantly, the design should have allowed for tuning in the beam direction AFTER the plastic lens is secured. It is a real pain to iteratively adjust the beam direction since is easily deflected off the mark during the plastic lens install.

compre estos sensores para tener todo de la marca topens pero fallan mucho cuando les da la luz del sol, en hora en el que el sol esta bajo funcionan perfectamente pero cuando esta alto se la pasan activándose y no dejan que la reja cierre. tengo dos instalaciones distintas y en las dos falla incluso compre nuevos sensores pensando que podrían estar defectuosos pero aun así siguen fallando.

This product was very easy to setup and install. The instructions provided were thorough and the gate stopped the moment the beam was cut. Does what it is supposed to do. Glad I got this.

I purchased this to go along with my Topens RK1200T gate opener. It was very easy to follow the instructions and wire. I used to have the photocell but this required a wire run under the track to the other post which was an added step. With this reflector system, you only need to wire the photoemitter side. I had a bit of trouble aiming the photoemitter at the right place. I would suggest installing this when it is a little dark and then you can more easily see where the photocell is pointing (red light beam). Or at least a helper to help you align the reflector with the emitter. You can use a few washers under the screws of the photoemitter to help you align the beam to where you want it (not all mounting surfaces are perfectly level!). One improvement might be some sort of fine adjustment screws that help aim the beam after it is installed. But otherwise, this performed as advertised after I got it all aligned, so I can't complain - now I don't have to worry about accidentally activating the gate and it slamming into my car as I exit. (My garage door and gate buttons are setup beside each other in the car so sometimes one can press the wrong button!.) This makes the whole setup much safer for not only your car but people.
