Great, versatile tool. Back saver.
I have a rural piece of land and Iโm cutting lots of trees and dragging the rounds uphill in carts. I have all kinds of winches: one on the truck, one on a UTV. But access is a problem. Sometimes itโs hard to get a vehicle mounted winch in tight places. So I got this drill winch. It works great! I literally take a cordless drill, tree strap and this thing and just walk in to any lifting situation. Itโs light, portable and I can get creative. Itโs pretty durable. The working bits are steel, and only the carrying handle and outside are plastic. Plus, the Warn brand is respected and I felt like it would be well built(even though I have no illusions, itโs probably not made in the USA). Still, itโs well built. The good: 1) Itโs light weight but pulls 750lbsโฆwhich is enough. You could probably pull more with pullies mechanical advantage but I wouldnโt for safety. Think of it as like having 2 strong buddies to help. Itโs not for recovering cars. But itโs strong enough for manual tasks. 2) The nylon rope is light and strong and easy on the hands(no sharp wire frays to cut you). Itโs very small, compared to full car recovery (10,000#) nylon rope at about 3/8โ thick or smaller. I donโt know where Iโll replace it when it eventually wears thin. But I understand the trade-off to make it light and portable. Itโs 40 feet long, and small because itโs only rated to 750lbs. 2) I use a Dewalt Impact driver that has a speed chuck with a socket attachment and 8mm(5/16โ) socket to drive it. The manual recommends a standard drill with a regular chuck, but I found this awful. The regular chuck kept loosening and itโs an akwardly tight space to tighten the chuck. It kept loosening. Plus, my drill speed was much slower. The impact driver was much faster, smaller and made a better connection with the socket attachment. All in all, Iโve found a new favorite tool. I keep looking for other uses. Who doesnโt need more power from time to time? Especially because itโs so portable.

Most awesomest tool ever
I was hesitant at first because of the relatively low, pulling power. Having owned larger winches in the past I wasnโt sure how well this one was going to work that said it is the greatest tool. I have purchased in the last 10 years. I have pulled a lot of timber with it since I got it and I can tell you it does a lot more work than size would suggest. It would, however, strongly recommend getting several tree savers and some snatch blocks and learning how to use them. You do not want to continuously max the pull on this unit in straight line pulls. No matter how high the quality is on any winch continuing to operate it at full capacity will shorten his lifespan considerably. This thing is so light and so handy you owe it to yourself to buy one. One of the best parts of it is itโs not committed to a single vehicle so it can be used anywhere you can carry it.

A great help for lifting beams
We were building something off grid and the men were using their backs to lift beams and railroad ties. Well, the wall got high and that was enough! I ordered this for them, and after that the work was much easier. It is durable and easy to use. They were able to move and lift the beams into place without breaking their backs.

Good
I bought this to help drag whitetail deer out of steep ditches while hunting. It isn't the fastest but it had no problems pulling a mature doe and my 62 year old father out of a very steep snowy ditch at the same time. He held onto the deers legs that I was pulling and walked right up the ditch. He wouldn't have gotten out without help. The rope is a decent length but I did have to rehook to a couple different trees to make it to the edge of the timber as it was a pretty long pull. This saved a ton of energy and we likely wouldn't have been able to get this deer out without this winch.

Convenient Drill Winch for Easy Tree Removal
This drill winch has been a game-changer for me on my rural property. With multiple winches for tree cutting and uphill hauling, the drill winch's compact size is perfect for tight spots where vehicle-mounted winches can't reach. Highly recommend it for anyone facing access challenges like mine!

makes lifting and handling big pieces of firewood very easy
I bought this to use for moving large pieces of oak and walnut stumps. I use these for firewood and often obtain them green and cut in lengths too long for firewood. A 24 inch length of california live oak will weigh upwards of 300 pounds, not something one is going to pick up and throw in a trailer. I used the Warn with my small truck crane and easily lifted the heavy trunk sections into my truck bed and trailer. Also, I used it to move large and heavy storage bins into the attic. It made this much easier. I previously used a small game pulley hoist for this, and had to deal with twisted, slippery ropes, spinning loads, and and constant twisting of the ropes. The lift also used the entire length of the pulley rope, so one had to be careful not to lose the rope at the start of the lift. Using the Warn was just a matter of running the hook up and down to a secured loop on the bins, fast and easy, with the additional advantage of having both hands free to guide the bins to a landing.

Very Heavy Duty - Expensive Option
There are many other less expensive options, but this does seem to be a very high quality winch. It's extremely portable and had no problems helping to pull a boat lift out of the water. Make sure you have a drill with a large capacity battery because the winch is slow and you'll run the drill for a long time to pull in the full 40ft. I bought the model with the synthetic rope and it winds in very well and is extremely flexible, way better than a steel cable in my opinion.

This winch is outstanding!
So far, I've used this to raise a 16' tall 2x6 wall in my pole barn and dragged a car lift off my trailer. It has impressive power and does the job of pulling without the fuss of chains, come alongs or high lift jacks. If you find yourself pulling anything heavy, ever, just get it, it'll last a lifetime I think. It is a little slow, even on high speed (drill setting), but saves your body and frustration in setting the other methods up.

Great bit of kit
I needed to move a towable cherry picker to an area that it was impossible to get it in to the position towing and the ground and the weight of the cherry picker made it nearly impossible to push . Hooked this on and it winched it to where i needed it without any issues at all . Great bit of kit , This is not the reason i bought it but it saved a lot of hard work

My back has never felt better
Work smart, not hard. I've been in the HVAC trade for 30 years, and wish this thing was invented 30 years ago. If you're already looking at this winch, just buy it. You'll use it way more than you think. Quality is superb. Don't forget to buy some straps, a pulley for even tighter lifting spaces, and a shackle or two and you're set.

Glad I got the flexible rope
Iโve and older model with the steel rope, which I use in another location. This new one is much easier to manage given the synthetic rope. The rope is much lighter. Itโs flexibility allows easier hook up and handling. The rest of the Warn product is strong and well engineered.

Exactly as described
Exactly as described. Works well. Need to be diligent feeding the rope onto spool. Great device.
