I snorkeled with this sleeve
I already had plans to go to Playa del Carmen and worried Iโd be stuck on the sidelines when I was told I couldnโt get my cast wet. I had been using trash bags and hair ties to shower with my cast, but some water/moisture got in even then. This device was a total game changer. Not only has my cast stayed dry in the shower, in Mexico, I could get in the water and submerge the sleeve fully in chlorinated and salt water. I didnโt try any real swimming strokes because I feared the pressure/speed might get things wet, but I was able to snorkel on multiple occasions without worry water would get in. I used the sleeve to paddle lightly and tread water floating in waves. I was able to have essentially the same vacation as those without a cast. Yes, it looks a little funny, but youโll get past the stares. One woman even asked me how I found the sleeve because she was told she couldnโt go in the water because she had some kind of skin irritation. This is extremely water tight. The only times I feared was when it was higher on my elbow rather than lower on my forearm, allowing a small air hole. But even then I think more air got out rather than water get in. There was one time where my cast got a bit wet around my forearm. That was in a seaside pool in which waves literally crashes in on you. But you can hold your sleeve in the air to avoid any risk in those situations. And even then, it held up against literal waves for the most part. Pay the $15 and keep your vacation, or just make showering so much easier. The sleeve really is the best $15 Iโve ever spent.

Worked Great After Surgery
I used this after surgery and it worked really well for keeping my arm dry in the shower. It was easy to put on and take off and made showering so much easier while I was recovering.

Good quality, but the price seems to keep increasing as positive reviews are added...
After a recent run-in with the trail in the Coronado National Forest (yes, the trail won), I'll be living in a short-arm cast for the next few weeks; so I needed a way to keep my arm dry while in the shower, etc. Given the relative bargain price ($9.26 with tax and free shipping with Prime), compared to similar cast protectors, I wasn't sure what to expect from this one; however, I've been pleasantly surprised. Rest assured that this device is made of extremely durable material (which the seller describes as "surgical rubber") and that the silicone bladder/seal affords water-tight protection for your arm, as advertised (a huge improvement over the plastic bag and rubber band that I was using, with um, marginal success). Length is 21" from the silicone bladder to distal end of the hand piece (see attached picture, which was taken after it had been used, daily, for one month). I noted in other reviews that some have shared that this is "not 100% waterproof". I found that it is, if applied correctly. For me, the secret to ensuring that the cover seals properly is to place it completely over the cast and configure the silicone bladder so that the seal is a convex shape (see 1st attachment), rather than positioned in a concave configuration (see 3rd attachment), which could allow water to run into the cover. Just pull down slightly on the cover after you've pulled it over the cast and this will result in a convex "flange" around your arm and above the cast, as shown. Additionally, you can pull a sock over your cast to ensure that the fiberglass doesn't tear the rubber cover. I made a protective cover for my cast, out of a sock, which saved my clothing, furniture, steering wheel, etc. There are commercial options available for around $20 or you can sacrifice a pair of socks (or use that single sock whose mate was eaten by the dryer) and some "Fray Check". As to the comment about this being "clumsy"... (?!!!!) What can I say? You're in a cast and/or you just need a way to keep your arm dry; so yes, that's going to be inconvenient... I recommend this cover as a way to provide a water-tight seal of the affected area! Update 3/13/20: Initially, I ordered this cast protector because of it's low price (as previously noted). While I found it to be a well-made and effective product, I suggest that potential buyers shop around given the fact that the price has nearly doubled (from $8.98 to $16.98 in less than six weeks) since I purchased it in early February 2020. A quick review finds that there are less expensive alternatives of similar design out there.

WISH I HAD PURCHASED SOONER!
This is my fourth surgery! The first three I had to use 2 disposable bags tied tightly in a knot then taped so that no water would get in. And it still got in! It was quite a process and very time consuming. This product is GREAT!!!!! It takes seconds to put on and you're good to go. Very durable, No water leaks ever! And, it is large enough that you can move your hand around freely without feeling trapped. When washing, the plastic is extremely soft and feels good on your skin. It takes seconds to remove and dries quickly. One thing though, it does become snug after a 20 to 30 min. shower. (see pic) But, this is meant to be put on your lower arm and I'm small so I had to push it up on my bicep which made it tighter (but it was still a comfortable fit). Even with snugness, this product far outweighs the hassle when attempting to keep it dry another way. You actually forget you have it on and can do everything you need to! I highly recommend this quality product!!

Fits my small arm
I bought this for my broken wrist and it works great for me. It didn't leak and is easy to use. The opening is small but the sleeve is very roomy. I'm a small person so I don't have trouble putting it on with one hand. But I can see the small opening might be difficult for someone bigger, or with more painful wounds.

Worth it for the convenience.
Worth it. Even if you're only in a splint for a week post-surgery, just get it. I tried bags and tape and let me tell you, when those splints get wet, they hold water. Just get something you can trust and stop fussing with plastic wrap/bags/tape. When I had carpal tunnel surgery, my splint was a little smaller and I got away with bags, but I probably spent more time and money on that than if I had just bought this. It was uncomfortable, too. So when I broke my wrist and the splint was a little bigger, I caved and bought this. Worth every penny to avoid trying to create a waterproof solution on your own. I failed on night 1 and had to sleep with a towel to soak up the water from the splint. I ended up not needing a cast so I only used this for about two weeks with the splint & brace, but I have no regrets. Honestly just get one; the injury is enough of a headache without trying to battle with bags and plastic wrap and tape. It's comfortable to wear, truly waterproof, and makes actually using that arm in the shower a lot easier (if you're allowed to use it at all).

Best $14 I Ever Spent
I broke my right wrist and arm, falling down a mountain trail while hiking. The cast cannot get wet, and the doc anticipated 12 weeks with it on. I am very frugal, so thought of plastic garbage bags to enclose my arm while showering, or wrapping the cast in saran wrap. Both kind of difficult to get onto my right arm cast, with my left hand! I saw this cast protector online, and thought "okay, I'll give it a try but it will probably leak or be impossible to get on by myself!" Nope. It slides right on easily over my cast and it does not leak. It is amazing. Best $14 I ever spent! The seal at the top of your arm is tight (very tight) and in the 5 weeks that I've been using it - no leaks. It's flexible, easy to hold the grab bar or shampoo bottle thru the thick plastic and every single time, my arm and cast come out of it nice and dry. Much easier than wrapping it anew each time with sticky plastic wrap or garbage bags & duct tape. If you have a cast, or a limb, you need to keep dry, this is a great product.

it works but youโll need help to wear it
I realize only having one working arm puts one in the โneeds helpโ category. However, I could not move this device even one centimeter without assistance. Be prepared for suction-like grip and you will be ready for deep sea diving. My stitches stayed dry but having to fold my hand up-fresh from surgery into the small hole to encase my arm was incredibly painful. My spouse had to stretch the opening of the device, while I prayed I could put it on without excruciating pain. It also was painful to take it off and again I needed help. I am a petite female and it pinched my arm so tightly. I did recommend the product to a relative because it works-but not without difficulty. Independence to use the product yourself-zero stars. Keeping your limb dry-5 full stars. Partner support, phone a โfriendโ, ask a parent-you wonโt use this sleeve cover with any degree of dignity or privacy. Something you can joke with your doctor about later when youโre not yowling in pain.

Kept my hand bone dry
Made my life much easier when I had 2 broken fingers in a splint for 6 weeks and couldn't wet them! It is very long but water never got in. Much nice than a plastic bag and sticky tape

Completely dry cast
Iโd spent a week trying different bags and tape on my cast and water always got in. Last night was my first completely dry and confident shower. Snug fit around my upper are but not so tight it hurt. Easy enough to get on and off. Great purchase.
