Best rich roast to make espresso.. no bitterness.. just deeper flavor than other roasters
Still the best for my love of espresso. I prefer a smooth, rich taste that I don't find in competing espresso beans (most are labelled "medium dark roast" thus not a deep a flavor flavor I seek. Thus, SF Bay Dark Italian is the only bean I found that gives that robust flavor I crave. I have been a SF Bay customer several years now, a quality coffee roaster.

Best, Most Consistent Roasting MUST BUY
Always great coffee if you buy the Dark Roast choices. Strange how consistently even the roasting is with this company. How do I know? I have bought 30 pounds of this SFBay coffee, ALWAYS Whole Bean. Outdoes Peets or any of the other brands for consistency. Period! The Best!

Extra Dark too dark, otherwise we love it!
I love this coffee, but we cannot really drink the Extra Dark because it's too bitter/strong. Not really complaining because the Extra part is accurate for those who love the dark black/starbucks style.

I'm a fan of strong coffee and I've pretty much stayed with the Starbucks French, Italian, or Espresso whole bean roasts. I'm going to compare with that product since that is my standard. In the Covid age it's been challenging at times to consistently get those Starbucks products at a reasonable price from sellers on Amazon, so I ventured out. Upon receiving the bag of SF Bay coffee I noticed right away that it was missing the oil on the beans I'm so used to seeing with my usual brew. In addition the bag was clear which was odd to me as most coffee comes in some kind of foil vacuum bag. Light exposure could remove the oil from the beans I imagine. The roast was not as dark as with the Starbucks I usually get either. I've brewed about five pots and the flavor is not bad but has a more bitter aftertaste than I'm used to. All and all it's more cost effective but I think I'll pay the extra money in the future and stick with my go too as long as the price is not too unreasonable.
