Oh, Mercy! Pig out on the first six adventures in the New York Times best-selling series, all tucked together in one enticing box—the perfect gift! Foiling a robber, driving a car, squeezing into a tutu—is there anything the porcine wonder won’t do in her single-minded pursuit of treats, buttered toast, or just a rollicking fun time? And who knows what other adventures twinkle in her mischievous eyes? Here, for Mercy Watson’s loyal fans and new friends, comes a big fat paperback collection of pig tales that will have readers squealing with delight. Included are: Mercy Watson to the Rescue Mercy Watson Goes for a Ride Mercy Watson Fights Crime Mercy Watson: Princess in Disguise Mercy Watson Thinks Like a Pig Mercy Watson: Something Wonky This Way Comes Review: new favorite! - How is it that I'm just now discovering Mercy Watson?? I bought Mercy Watson Saves the Day to excite a reluctant ready, and we were both enchanted. Mercy Watson is a pig (a porcine wonder!) who lives with Mr. and Mrs. Watson and loves toast "with a great deal of butter." She manages to get herself into a myriad of funny situations The illustrations are engaging and nuanced, and the vocabulary is good for a beginning/intermediate reader. But the best part is the delightful plots. Mercy's adventures tickle my student and myself, and the tone is clever enough for the adult reader's entertainment. After reading the first book, I had to buy this collection, and it hasn't disappointed. Review: Great books for struggling readers, as well as engaging. - Great set of books, because the price for the set was so reasonable, I ordered 2. My granddaughter and I read over FaceTime together. We take turns reading, our goal is to read the entire 6 book collection by Sept. the start of school

A perfect longer set stories for cuddle time
I have bought three sets of these books. I first purchased them for my older son four years ago. We read these books nightly and we still use quotes from the Mercy Watson books. I have since purchased this set for a birthday present and now again for a Christmas present. This set is my go-to present for anyone around 4-5 years old. The books are short "chapter books" but are typically too long for anyone under 4. My two year old (who can sit through several Curious George books in a row) can listen to about half of one these books without a problem. The stories are cute but really the illustrations make these books. I am a huge fan of Chris van Dusen and his pictures in these books do not disappoint. The expressions this little pig gets when she is causing mischief, often unbeknownst to her, are priceless and they make me laugh out loud. My favorite book in the series is probably the first one, Mercy Watson to the Rescue. You get introduced to the three main characters, Mercy, Mr. and Mrs. Watson and also their neighbors, Eugenia (you have to love someone with that name) and Baby. All in all, you will be happy with these books. The stories are engaging and include a lot of hot buttered toast and the artwork is both endearing and hilarious. I love this series, can you tell? :) Happy reading!!

MOST WONDERFUL series for both student enjoyment and a teacher's literacy tool!
These are INCREDIBLE books to both enjoy and to use for a wide variety of teaching techniques. The way Kate DiCamillo develops her storyline, heightens character development, and implements enough rhythm for a struggling reader to find success is delightful. Chris Van Dusen is the perfect complement to her talent with TONS of details hidden within the illustrations. I use his images to teach my students how to 'picture read,' infer, and predict the story so that when we read Kate's creative text, my students can make wise, confident choices in word solving. These are the best teaching tools I have yet to find... and a child feels so proud that s/he can show that they have read a chapter book. THANK YOU, Kate and Chris!!!

Great for 1st graders!
This is a great set of books for 1st grade level readers. Each page has enough to read, but not an overwhelming amount for young minds therefore they stay excited and engaged with the story. Each page also has bright and colorful pictures. The content is 1st grade humor and will keep your kiddo excited to take on a chapter book! My 1st grader told us about these books and is now reading them to us!

Very entertaining!
I bought this book set for my almost 5 year old and wanted to keep it hidden for a month before his birthday. I couldn’t wait though )) The books are a very nice size, with pretty and funny pictures and good font for young independent readers. We found the books very funny and really entertaining! My son kept laughing and squealing with delight! I know these books are probably not very educational but come on, they are fun! And fun is good! So I do recommend them!
