I have suffered from Misophonia, which is an extreme sensitivity to specific sounds, for the past 28 years. I have always needed earplugs to sleep, but in the last few years I have needed something more. I have experimented with various brands of sleep headphones over the last few years, but none were adequate at blocking breathing or snoring sounds, even when used with the best earplugs. After significant research, I finally decided to give bone conduction headphones a try. I am so glad that I did! Upon opening the shipping box, I was amazed to find what I can only describe as the best packaging that I have ever seen on a product. I know it has nothing to do with the product, but it does instill some confidence when the box is rivaled only by the latest flagship phones, complete with a magnetic latch to hold it closed. Needless to say, it went on the shelf. Ok, on to the actual product. Material (8/10): The headphones have what I would describe as velvety feel to them, not really plastic and not rubber, just firm with a soft warm texture. The headphone band is a bit hard and does not flex very much. This is not really a con, but takes some getting used to when sleeping with the headphones. Charging (10/10): The proprietary charging system is one of the nicest features of these headphones. The cable terminals are surrounded by strong polarized magnets. There is no connector to insert or break, just get the cable within 1/2" of the charging port, and it snaps in place and holds on tight in the correct orientation. There is no concern of inadvertently connecting the charging cable backward, or damaging the connector. Sound Quality (7/10, but please read): This was not a big driver for me, since I usually use them with white noise or something that doesn't require high quality. Due to the method that the sound is transferred from the transducer into the bone, I feel that the sound quality is excellent for how they work. If you are planning to compare them to the latest $300 active noise cancelling headphones, you might be slightly disappointed. Music sounds good, but you may miss some minute details, if you are into that. Microphone (10/10): I have currently only used this feature once, to speak with a service technician while I was on a bike ride in heavy traffic. I don't know how I sounded to him, but he had no problems hearing me clearly through the 25mph wind vehicle noise. Battery life (10/10): Other dedicated sleep headphones that I have tried didn't even make it 6 hours overnight. I have yet to drain the battery on the AfterShokz Aeropex. The battery is stated to last 8 hours, but I was skeptical, expecting that this would be based on a low volume. I wear earplugs with them and have them turned up rather high. They have made it through every 8-hour night that I have used them. Once I forgot to charge them before the next night, and topped them up for about 20 minutes before bed and they made it through another full night. I hit the volume button the next morning and they still had medium battery left! Sleep comfort (5/10): These are not made specifically for sleeping and take some experimentation to make work. The band that connects the two sides sticks out quite a bit behind your head, and I thought it would make back sleeping difficult. Fortunately, if you rotate the band up against your head before laying down, it works quite well, and doesn't move the sound pads off of the cheek bone too much. If you use a firm pillow, side or stomach sleeping can be uncomfortable due to the thickness of the sound pads. I was able to make both work by using a softer pillow that can accommodate the pads without much discomfort. Noise Masking (10/10): When worn in conjunction with good earplugs, these things are amazing. First, the earplugs block out most noise. The AfterShokz introduce sound into your cheek bones, which reverberates behind the earplugs, pretty much masking every sound in existence. I would not recommend this if you live alone, as you may not hear a smoke alarm, gun shot, or truck running through your house. In all seriousness, I have not woken up once from snoring or talking in the last few weeks since I purchased these. With earplugs and the best external sleep headphones or noise canceling headphones, I would routinely wake up several times each night. I was not finding any reviews that discussed the important points that I was looking for regarding good sleep headphones, so hopefully this review helps anyone who is looking for the same thing. I may end up purchasing a second pair as a backup to use on my bicycle commute just so I never have to go another night without these.

Get these! Save up and get these. Don't waste your time or money on any cheap brand. Save up the extra $50 and get Aeropex instead of the lower priced Aftershokz models if you can. The battery life and comfort are worth the investment. I tried a $40 China cheapie. It was heavy. I had to turn my phone volume up into the red zone to hear. The usable battery life was only 3 hours. Aeropex are so light I sometimes forget I'm wearing them. The lay pretty securely around my neck if I'm not using them, though I usually just wear them. They are also easy to hang up while charging. The battery life is at least 8 hours. I may be getting even more than 8, because I only have to charge it every other day. I can hear well on the same low volume as I used with ear buds. Another advantage is that they don't tangle with my face mask ear loops. My ear buds wire got so tangled from when I took my mask on and off walking around the office or running errands. With open-ear I can hear what my kids are doing or if my boss calls me. I can pair with both my phone and my PC so that I don't miss an important email or chat notification from work. Most importantly, no more ear infections! (hopefully.) I've never been prone to sickness, but I've had constant ear irritation and 4 ear infections in the last 4 months. I'm convinced its because I started listening to podcasts all day with ear buds. My ears have finally recovered after a week of antibiotics and switching to bone conduction headphones. No more itching, pain or hearing loss because I'm not putting anything in my ears. I could even hear despite the horrible ear infection that made both my ears clog and swell shut because bone conduction works the same as cochlear implants used by some hard-of- heating and Deaf people, sending vibration directly to the inner ear bones. Bottom line. These are the best bone conduction headphones on the market. They're the best headset available of any kind, since in-ear can cause infections and over-ear keep you from hearing surrounding sounds. Worth every penny. I consider them a medical expense and health care investment.

I bought my Aeropiex about 14 months ago, and have used them almost daily since then. For the most part I reallly love them. I am visually impaired, so value being able to hear outside auditory imput while still listening to music, podcasts, or audiobooks. When I really want to immerse myself in some music or a movie, I have a pair of over-ear headphones, but while walking to or riding the bus they are perfect. I also wear them at work most of the day and can still be aware of other activity in the room. Pro's: 1. Good sound, while still allowing me to hear the world around me. 2. Really light and comfortable. I often wear them all day at work and forget they are there. 3. I swap the connection on the headphones between about 4 devices, and it keeps up no problem. Negatives: 1. As others have said, the beeps are annoyingly loud. I especially get frustrated when it loses connection with a device and feels the need to beep periodically for a couple minutes. I'm often connected to two devices, so when I wander away from one it starts the beep. Just one or two notifications would be plenty. 2. A minor complaint, but a charging cable longer then 2 feet would be really nice. Even just having one available to buy. 3. After 14 months I am getting noticeably shorter battery life. I have to stop and charge the headphones part way through the work day if I want them to make it through the commute home. That's still pretty good battery life though, so I can't complain to much. Overall, the positives far outweigh the negatives. If I were to lose my Aeropex I would have no hesitation buying another pair. They are a little more expensive then the competition, but if you can afford the pricetag it's more then worth it.

I purchased these headphone in November 2020. I have used these headphones daily since purchasing for playing computer games and listening to music on my phone while I take care of things around my home. I opted to get bone conducting headphones as I get migraines and having anything heavy on my head and/or that squeezes my head contributes to the discomfort, plus I like being able to hear things around me while wearing them. The only issues I have had with them is that any music or sound with heavy bass makes the headphones vibrate and it tickles a bit, and I also dislike that you can only use a specific magnetic charging cable - if the cable breaks I can't just get a new one at the store, I'll have to order it. After having worked perfectly for almost 3 years, just recently the battery no longer charges fully and the battery dies within a 2 hours, but nothing can work optimally forever. Because I'm so impressed with how long they lasted, how good the sound is, and how light weight they are (I often forget I'm wearing them) I have decided to get an upgraded pair from the same company - Best Buy sells them also and as of 8/11/23 have a $40 off deal for the Shokz Steel Blue OpenRun Pro - specifically that color for some reason. Looking into the pro version it looks like they were made for better sound quality and support of sounds with bass which I'm hoping elevates the vibration issue. Regardless on where you get them, I highly recommend the Shokz brand for bone conducting headphones - they have much more options then when I first purchased from them in 2020.

I hate earbuds. They either hurt, or they fall out of my ear with the slightest movement. These sit securely outside my ear, just behind where a man's sideburns would be. I don't mind wearing these around all day, while earbuds would be removed instantly once I finished a call. They are comfortable overall, but not perfect. The band lightly presses on my head just above my ear, and after wearing them an extended amount of time, it does begin to ache a bit. Not significantly, but enough that it feels good to remove them. Also, there is really only one way to wear them (with the band around the back of my head or upper neck), so if I sit back against a high-backed chair, they get in the way. I would love to be able to wear the band over the top of my head (like a headband) and still be able to hear, but the shape and position of the conductor piece doesn't really allow for that. Pairing is very easy. I've paired them with 2 different phones and 2 different computers (iPhones and MacBooks) with no issues at all. When I need to switch between devices, I do it through the devices themselves (disconnect from one then connect with the other), and it has always been simple. When I first turn the set on, it pairs automatically to the last device used. Sound quality is fine for my uses. I generally only use them for phone calls or podcasts, so I am mostly just listening to spoken word. I do notice sometimes, particularly when the battery is getting low, that the sound does seem to suffer a bit, with very light static. Controls are pretty easy to manage. There is a multi button on the conductor piece, and +/- buttons on the piece that goes behind your ear. I find the +/- buttons to be easy to access and differentiate while the set is on my head. The multi-button usually takes me a second to locate with my finger, but is easy to access. The +/- buttons control volume, with the + button also controlling power and pairing (shorter press and longer press, respectively). You can also press either volume button to get an audio notification of battery level. The multi-button offers playback and call controls with presses, double-presses, triple-presses and long-presses, which seems confusing, but is more intuitive than you might expect. You can also use the +/- buttons for some more in-depth controls (press both buttons at once to mute a call, or long-press both buttons for equalizer controls). A bit awkward while the set is on your head, but manageable. Overall, I really like these, and am very happy I bought them. I do not typically spend much money on earphones, so these were definitely a splurge, but I haven't regretted the expenditure at all. I am very happy with them.

Audio quality is much better for music with the aeropex, And they apply less pressure on my ear temple area, which i believe is helping to reduce headaches I had in the past that may or may not have been coincidence in matching the use of my airs. They have a slightly longer battery life and the buttons are easy enough to find a push once I get past my muscle Memory [1:56 PM] All in all are they worth upgrading to if you are happy with the airs? IF you dislike the size of the halo, feel they apply a little too much pressure, value the different charging port, bluetooth 5.0 as opposed to 4.x, and want them to have a better IP rating, and want a slightly more dynamic audio range. If none of those are a concern of yours? Don't bother, just keep your Airs As for feature rating- These have 0 Noise Cancellation by essence of being Bone Conduction. Sound Quality as Bone Conduction units is very good, however not on par with your normal in ear IEM by virtue of being Bone conduction, some quality is just lost/ignored. and Bass Quality- Again not something you really are going for in bone conduction as the bass is usually the most uncomfortable part and can cause a slight tickle. I haven't experienced any tickle with them, but I don't listen to bass heavy music, or very loud at that. These are the best audio devices for spoken word, be it podcasts/audiobooks/etc That's where they really shine and I very much recommend them. That being said these are the only type of headphones I have used for the last 5 or so years because I enjoy them so much.

This is my 2nd pair! I live bi-coastal so I needed one at each location. I could never get earbuds to fit in my ears right - high dollar and low dollar versions. I had to hold them in to get a clear and full sound. These are so great. They sit on top of your ear Travis, the little cartilage in front. The sound Is incredible! I can easily wear them on long flights (don’t hurt), for walks, etc. the only thing I wish is they had a way to adjust the part that goes around the back of your head. If I could tighten it up a bit, it’d help, but this is such a small thing, not worth taking a ⭐️ away. Oh, another benefit - they are much harder to lose than earbuds! Hold a charge a while, too. Get them!

My first open ear headphones and so far I am very happy with the product. I primarily use for running and yard work around the house when I want to avoid the annoying neighbors. I've tried several different types of ear buds and none of them have ever worked because they keep falling out of my ears when I sweat. If you exercise, run, or bike a lot and have that problem this product is for you. The fit is excellent, I hardly know they are there and I don't need to adjust them. Worked well and paired easily right out of the box. Design is excellent and controls are intuitive. Sound quality is very good (B+) but not excellent (A). You could probably find better sounding buds out there if you're an audiophile. Bass is a little weak and a bit muffled on the high end. But it's fine for most activities. And if you're a true audiophile you're not buying anything wireless anyways. Beep is loud but not as annoying as some people make it out to be. Less than a second. These let in some noise, which is probably a good thing when you're exercising. Not really any different than other "sport" headphones I used. Didn't notice any vibration If you're an audiophile that wants to listen to the symphony in crystal clear full range sound or if you hate beeps these probably aren't for you. But if you want a reasonably priced, quality product with good sound that's easy to use buy these. And if you're a runner don't hesitate at all.

The product is super, for what I want to use it for. Don't think you will get high volume of high quality sound out of it. If you want more volume you have to put earplugs is. But for pleases with lots of sound these are ideal in combination with ear protection. I also like that when I am running I can still hear what is around me. Minus parts is that i ordered with this supplier and paid for it, and days later I get a message that it is out of stock. So had to buy it for a other supplier

In MHO these bone conduction headphones have great great sound , instantaneous pairing , are light weight (I have turned them off in order to do something , and then found myself looking for them ,forgetting I am still wearing them ), they have a comfortable fit, they are great if you are out in the rain, and I LOVE not having something stuck inside my ears that I have to worry about falling out. They are also great if you have cats lol ( I had a pair of the air pod type ....which went missing because my cat got hold of the case , got the ear pods out .....and the rest is history...they are no more), The cats have no interest in trying to play with these ( just don't leave the charging cable lying around! - although they do come with 2!!) They came well packaged and with a silicone rubber case, as well as the headphones and 2 magnetic charging cables. I am very happy with this purchase...and I love the red.

Sono un audiofilo e se dovessi giudicare il suono darei circa 6, ma secondo me sono da giudicare per il contesto e lo scopo al quale sono rivolte. L'idea di ascoltare audio ed avere le orecchie 'libere' a volte è irrinunciale/necessario e questo compito lo svolgono egregiamente, inoltre secondo me non ci sono alternative. La qualità generale dei materiali e l'utilizzo delle funzioni é premium, l'audio manca degli estremi di banda ma lascia stupiti per la spazialità e la tridimensionalità che in certe situazioni riescono a dare. Una stranezza é che turandosi le orecchie, la parte bassa dello spettro audio aumenta in modo spropositato (?!) dando corpo al messaggio audio ma soffocando la parte alta. Se vi serve un prodotto del genere e non mirate alla qualità hi-fi della musica, non resterete delusi da questo 'oggetto'. Il consiglio che posso dare è che se non vi serve l'impermeabilita, puntate pure sulle OpenMove, risparmiate un bel po' di soldi e la differenza sui bassi è praticamente impercettibile.

Habe einen Kopfhörer für Sport (Laufen, Radfahren) gesucht und bin sehr zufrieden mit den Aftershokz. Nutze sie jetzt seit einigen Wochen und möchte sie nicht mehr hergeben. Ich verwende die Kopfhörer auch zum Telefonieren und bin in diesem Einsatzbereich ebenfalls begeistert. Die Soundqualität lässt sich natürlich nicht mit anderen Kopfhörern vergleichen, das macht aber für die Zwecke, für die ich die Aftershokz einsetze, nichts.

Great sound quality-very impressive ;materials are good quality ,unfortunately had to return it as found it uncomfortable at the back
