JW Pet Company Insight Cuttlebone Holder, Colors Vary

I like how the cutter bone doesn’t just fall to thebittom like most of the included clips. I have three that actually use this and it was a good investment. Pretty sturdy too.

To begin, bare in mind that I am very pleased with this purchase and highly reccommend it as a must-have item if you don't have one yet. I will state, it does not come with a cuttlebone. Depicted in the advertisement is a piece of cardboard serving as a visual place holder for your own cuttlebone. This item is entirely plastic, as such it is not the most enduring of materials and almost definitely will not support the weight of any bird bigger than a typical cockatiel. Cockatoos would probably be better off with a differnt holder, though this one is defintely of adiquate size and could possibly be shored up with some personal ingenuity. I was a bit shocked at how large it was. It is made for holding even the largest of cuttlebones sold on the common market. It does fasten to the cage bars well enough to support some weight within reason. I was not entirely pleased with the mechanism that holds the cuttlebone itself. It holds firmly, but it's a little plastic strap that goes across the otherwise useable face of the cuttlebone. It's nothing more than a minor obstruction and isn't really a major factor. I just think it could have been designed smarter with an ounce of thought. Overall... like I said, this is a great purchase for a bargain price. If you don't have a cuttlebone for you birbs, then you absolutely need to get a couple along with some kind of holder. This is the budget economy best in my opinion.

I've owned my Indian Ringneck parrot for yrs, and she will demolish a cuttlebone in matter of minutes. I have to buy her the big stone ones to last a bit longer. On the other hand, my green-cheek conure will savor his. If you have ever had the issues I've had when trying to put on these cuttlebones to a cage, you will definitely want to purchase this handy little gadget. The holder is super easy to use and works well for smaller parrots. Simply unscrew the back nob and stick it the cage. There's a latch to move for putting the cuttlebone in it. You don't necessarily have to move it to put the cuttlebone in it. The holder is plastic, so if your parrot is biter, it could lead to impaction if it swallowed pieces of plastic. Be sure to watch for this. It comes with a removable perch. I left one on for my IRN, Sunshine, and took it off for my GCC, Skipper. Overall, the value of this cuttlebone holder is great. Worth the price and works as expected!

UPDATE: I definitely see how a parakeet could get stuck upside down between the plastic curved perch and the holder. Today the holder was empty, but a small bit of water was in the bottom. I watched one of my birds lean way over to get at the water, and saw instantly that if he lost his balance, he would be stuck upside down, just like the accident reported by another reviewer. By all means remove that curved perch, they don't need it. Mount the unit near one of their regular cage perches, and they'll be fine. This is a design flaw, the gap is much too big, just about perfect parakeet size for a disaster to happen. I still like it for greens and treats, but without the perch. Original Review: Bought this for its intended purpose but when I received it, I immediately saw that it would hold the greens that my birds love. I fold a large chard, kale, beet, or romaine leaf in half, doused in water and rinsed clean, stuff it into the holder, and the birds are delighted. The greens don't fall on the floor and get dirty. I did not give it five stars because the perch part was broken when I got it, but luckily was able to glue it in place nice and tight with some E-6000. One person complained that the perch is slippery for his birds. It could be wrapped with cotton kitchen string or garden twine so their little feet can grab on. It also can be removed. I have my holder near one of their perches, so they just sit there and lean over to eat their salad. I think the best thing about it is that it keeps the food on the wall of the cage, avoiding it falling to the bottom and getting soiled. Amazon's shipping was a bunch of stuff loose in a box, that's why the holder got its perch broken on one side, but as I said, I was able to fix it easily with glue, and it's probably stronger for that, anyway. Finally, one person had unfortunate accident in his bird's cage with this holder. The perch can be entirely removed if you're worried.

I was hoping this would be a good product but I did not hold my breath. Boy am I surprised and happy I got these! Wow my birds love them (I have a wide variety of birds). I was so tired of poop always getting on the cuttle bones, or the little steel bands letting go. Then you have a larger cleaning issue or you have to throw them away. Well I have those problems no longer!! It holds the cuttles nice and firm. There is no more dropping to the cage floor and they wrap around the cuttle just enough to keep the poop off. The perch accommodates a large variety of bird Insight Cuttlebone Holder Assorted 8 sizes. Plus it catches the soft shavings of the cuttle that would normally be lost on the floor. The hens and young birds alike seem to really like this! It attaches to the cage wonderfully and easily. I have issues with my fingers but found these very comfortable to apply to wire of the cages! Thank You so much whomever designed these!! Originally I bought 1, then after using it for a week I ordered a few more. I ended up getting one for every cage and aviary plus some to have on hand. If You have birds this is one of those rare products You really would appreciate having.

So I got this for my cockatiel and I have conflicting feelings about it. TECHNICALLY... it does the job, but 100% I would be better off with a clip. I have a very large cuttlebone that I bought for my bird. My local bird store is an hour away and I'd rather support them than Walmart or a big box pet store. So I got two of their large cuttlebones for 1.50 each that way one bone would last a long while and once one was gone I'd still have another one. I was being time saavy and making sure I'd have enough for my bird. Well... turns out that this thing is strictly meant for small cuttlebones. It looked so big when I opened it that when I was at the bird store the big bone looked like it would fit in my head. It most definitely doesn't. It's not even in the seat that is supposed to hold the cuttlebone. It's sitting in the perch area. Now that part of it is on me. I didn't think to... measure... my cuttlebone holder before buying a cuttlebone... But my other issue is that it just does NOT grip the bars tightly. I have mine at the back of my cage. I had to ask my husband to hold it in place inside the cage so I could go around and twist the screw. I got it as tight as I could. It's still moving when my bird messes with it enough. The construction of it is sturdy, but the ability to stay in place must definitely isn't. And my cage has thin bars! If you have thick bars this thing is 1000000000% not going to stay in place. For the price.... it's not bad. Again it technically does the job. I mean it's $3, but still. Even if I break that cuttlebone in half I feel like it won't fit.

I didn't think I was going to like this because at first glance it looked rather bulky but I LOVE it!! I couldn't believe how much of the cuttlebone debris fell into the cup; certainly was/is less of a mess to clean up in and around the cage! And it's easy to screw onto the cage, doesn't bend the cage wires, very sturdy. I just ordered 2 more because every time I find a product i love it seems to be discontinued. My cockatiel loves it too.

This cuttlebone holder is perfect. GREAT product and easy to use. Holds onto the cage no issue. Sturdy even when 2 of my parakeets fight to be on it at the sametime lol. The little cup like design on the bottom holds the crumbs of the cuttlebone. Worth it 10/10 recommend.

Inutilisable, le produit est arrivé défaillant avec la vise en plastique totalement déformée. Impossible de l'utiliser pour la fixer à la cage.... Une arnaque, a fuir sans hésitation

Great for my cockatiel's cage. Holds his cuttlebone and/or treats. Well made, easy to attach to a cage, well-priced.

This is a great holder for cuttlebone, keeps it securely in place, the budgies and canaries love to sit on the comfortable rounded perch (my canary even likes to spend the night there), and the cupped bottom keeps any mess from going to the bottom of the cage. It's very sturdy, easy to install and stays in place due to the secure screw attachment. Love the colors, mine is blue with a green perch and yellow attachment. I can really recommend these, they are quality, good price, shipped quickly and well packed.
