Tight, but useable.
For the price it's great. Form-wise it's very close to a genuine Nintendo controller. The finish feels a bit rougher and the Nintendo logo is missing. You can put a small label/sticker on actually. Everything is a bit tighter with this controller: plug, d-pad, buttons, analog stick. Actually the controller/rumble pack slot is a bit loser. Anyway everything is fully functional, but may require a bit more pressure. Kirby 64 uses the d-pad and it played fine. The worst part is the analog stick when trying to make a small movement. I tested Star Fox 64 and it worked fine, but there was a time or two when I tried a slight move and it didn't work. Rumble worked fine. I tested Super Mario 64 and it's a bit tough to sneak or aim with the canons. Overall good, but my old beat up original controller still feels a bit nicer.

Initial thoughts
I'll start out saying I mostly play racers on my 64, and I put this thing through the ringer on F-Zero X before writing this review. With all the bad reviews dealing with the stick, I figured it would be best to try it out on a game that needed a lot of minute directional changes and quick reactions. This is extremely similar to the original controller on the outside. It's a little lighter weight, but overall the best copy I've ever come across. If I didn't have a side-by-side comparison it would be difficult to tell (except for the lack of a "Nintendo" logo, of course).Since a lot of the negative reviews sited poor quality and product failure shortly after purchase, I wanted to take a closer look and opened it up before I did anything. The biggest difference is the joystick connection is soldered straight to the board, so there's no way to replace it if it breaks. Since this thing was so cheap, it really wouldn't be worth it anyway. The button pads were a little simplified (i.e. no accommodation of the solder points on the shoulder buttons), but pretty standard design. I could see these failing if you're tossing them around a lot or if you gummed them up somehow. I'll try to remember to update in a couple months with longevity, but there's no obvious reason they would fail easily.Plugging it in was a lot stiffer than an original controller. It's a tight fit, but it fits. All the buttons operate just fine, but they are a little more stiff than I like. That's a minor complaint though, and this may change with time. The stick isn't great, I'll give you that. It's really stiff, and it can stick a little. Also it causes bigger changes in the game a lot faster. Every degree of movement is still there, you can still make minute changes, it's just not as easy. After a few laps, I was getting the hang of it, and I still came in first on every track. In both appearance and out-of-the-box function, this is extremely similar to the original. It's a lot better than the third party controllers that were on the market when the original was still in production. If I hadn't played in a while and didn't have an original to compare it to, I doubt I'd know the difference.EDIT (a few hours later): This thing does not work with a USB adapter. Hits the start button like it's on turbo.

New generation of gamers can now play!
We love to play Super Smash Bros on the N64 at family functions but our various original controllers were really crappy. When our little girls wanted to start playing, we knew we had to look for something better. We bought 4 of these! A black, a green, a red, and a blue. What a DIFFERENCE! We can actually CONTROL our characters. We've been using these most nights of the week for about a half hour at a shot (before bed, we each pick a location or two) and we beat each other on the game. My daughters are able to actually learn moves since the buttons all work consistently! Great buy!

Perfect replacement
I dug out my N64 and purchased two of these controllers (Red and Black). Compared to my two original controllers the buttons and joystick on these controllers are a little stiffer but I wouldn't take a star off for it, they still feel and play great. These controllers are identical looking to the original controllers, the only difference being the Nintendo branding isn't present. Very happy with the purchase overall.I took one star off because the cord is shorter than the original controller. You will need to be close to your TV or bring your console out to a coffee table to play comfortably.

As it gets harder to find branded Nintendo controllers in good shape while the system gets older
I am kind of on the fence with this one between 3 and 4 stars. As it gets harder to find branded Nintendo controllers in good shape while the system gets older, its too bad that no company can seem to make one as good as the original. Size and shape is good, but the joystick just does not perform to original speck. In a pinch these work and the price is reasonable, but I think 95% of the time you will be happier to hold out and find a good used official controller.

I ordered two of these and was a little confused ...
I ordered two of these and was a little confused since one had the port for the N64 and the other was only a USB. I thought I was buying two for my N64 but it worked out since my brother is a huge gamer and uses the N64 simulators on his computer so at least he got some use out of the other one.

Works quite well
I liked that it came in full plastic packaging. Tried it out on several games, like Super Mario 64, Super Smash Bros., and Mario Kart. The buttons feel nice, the joystick is very tight and snaps back to the middle. The plastic on the controller didn't quite feel as smooth as an official Nintendo 64 controller, but not bad. It is a good replacement for a worn out controller.

) I mean if they upgraded the analog it would be a perfect controller. To be honest I wouldn't buy it ...
Everything works on it the analog stick is a little loose but hey that's why its the player 2 controller ;) I mean if they upgraded the analog it would be a perfect controller. To be honest I wouldn't buy it again though. I'd save up a few extra bucks and go for an actual n64 controller from Nintendo I think its a little less than 40.
