The rain runs right through it and so far has not frozen into ice on it. The mat is super heavy duty, and physically heavy so there's no chance it blows away or get accidentally moved a lot. Good texture for getting mud off shoes before coming indoors. It looks great too, but most happy to finally find a truly FUNCTIONAL doormat.
