These white filters are pitched then replaced at each cleaning. I do not rinse and reuse, as I do with sponge filters. They do a good job in the filter system of keeping the water clear. I use several different filters in the canister, and each filter performs a task in keeping the water clear. I tear down the tank and canister every two months.
