Amazing
It's been years since I read this and it is just as amazing. A mystery, a coming of age story as well as a hard look at prejudice and hate for anyone deemed different. This along with well written interesting characters I would rate this as one of the author's best.

Entertaining, imaginative story with likeable main characters
I just finished the 'Legend of the Ir'Indicti' series by Connie Suttle and have immediately gone on to start to start the Blood Destiny series which is the highest praise I can think of for an author. That and the fact that I finished the last two books in this series in one night, staying up until 3 am, huddled under the covers as I tried not to wake my husband with the light from my ipad. I found the series inventive, fun, and well written with likeable, characters you can empathize with. Ms. Suttle especially does a great job through the series with her main character Ashe, starting with the first book when he is a young pre-adolescent who has a best friend and (unusual) family who loves and supports him but still feels out of place in his supernatural community. Ashe is likeable, smart and not at all irritating while still acting like a believable child and eventual teenager throughout the series.I'm always a bit leery of independent authors as so many seem to think it's okay to publish with many spelling errors and scary, scary grammar. Thankfully this author, who per her bio page is a college graduate who has taught university level classes, has done a very good job of editing in her books with spelling and grammar errors at a minimum. I only noticed a few through the series which is about on par for large publishing house book releases these days.I really like her take on the whole supernatural community, vampires, weres and shifters, oh my, and how they interact with each other and the humans. And I am very interested to continue with her other series as at least some appear to focus on characters who were either actually in, or have been mentioned in, this series.I will say there are many, many supporting characters in these books and at times you can begin to lose track of some of them if you're not paying close attention. Finally, this is a young adult series focusing on children who eventually turn to teens. There is violence and death in this series but I found it was not graphic or gratuitous, it did not glamorize violence and it felt natural to the world these kids inhabit.

Awesome series! 5 starts to subsequent books in this series!
Slight spoilers for Blood Wager series contained in this review: I was skeptical going into this series because I thought it would be too young adult for me. I typically read adult paranormal romance. I absolutely adore this author's Blood Wager series, and new High Demon series, so I thought I would give this a try because it got such good reviews. I was not disappointed. In fact, I devoured all 4 books in this series in a matter of days. I could not put them down, and lost a bit of sleep because of it. This first book "Bumble" was still great, but the series improves immensely with each book. This could because between books one and two, the main character and his friends go from 12 to 14, then to 16 by the last 2 books. The characters were more relatable (is this a word?) as they got a little older, and the action and story picked up too. What made the story for me was the inclusion of many characters from the Blood Wager books. I keep wondering how this series might tie in with where the the Blood Wage series is going now, but this series is set during the time when all of Lissa's friends on Earth think she is dead. So no Lissa in this book so far, thought she is talked about, but we have a lot of Winkler and his children (now grown), Weldon, Wlodek (who is very unlikable in this book), Radomir, Charles, Renegar, Griffin, and many wonderful new characters. I have grown to love Ashe and hope I see some of him cross over somehow to later Blood Wager books. My mind has been constantly spinning trying to think if I missed any reference to him (not by name but indirectly) in any of those books???? It is giving me a headache! Please Connie, you are killing me ending all these books on cliffhangers! Thank you so much for writing and publishing them so quickly!

From Journeywoman to Master...
I have read all that Connie Suttle has to offer, and while I have to agree with others who down-graded her first works for the horrible editing, I have to say that over the course of reading, I've seen this author go from apprentice to Mistress. Bumble's beginning tells us all that she has arrived. I'm usually hard on reviews, not prone to flattery, but none is necessary with this book. While I have to say that nothing is ever perfect, Ms. Suttle has delivered as near a perfect TEN that I have ever seen. The characterization is flawless. The world-building a result of her earlier series, fleshed out and believable. The timing and pacing...again, flawless. The main character just a bit too believably good, but given the type of parents he has--a vampire and a shapeshifter--what child in their right minds would trow a teenage tantrum? And the only other complaint I have about realism is the hours the community keeps. With vampires in the mix, it would just make sense that school started in the afternoon instead of the morning. Families with vampire parents would naturally spend part of the evening hours socializing and family time would be later toward dawn. This community kept human "norm" hours and that didn't make sense. Other than that, the story grips tight and doesn't let go. YA with adult themes: murder, prejudice, violence. No sex. Don't worry, you won't have time to miss that on this joy ride. Solid story-telling with a good, solid who-dun-it plot. Fantastic and well worth the small fee. A keeper and a re-reader.

A new series from Connie Suttle - I love it!
Connie Suttle's books are the best in paranormal fantasy. Her worlds are full of wonderful characters. In this new series, she introduces a community of paranormal families living in Cloud Chief, Oklahoma. Although these characters are new, the action all takes place in her imaginary universe, which is turning out to be enormous. It was nice to meet again some characters from her Blood Destiny series. I'm not going to give away the plot, and others have written good reviews.Do you want to know what Elemaiya are or who Radomir is? Ms Suttle's new website is online now, full of information, at [...] Go there for backgrounds, FAQ's and a glossary of people, and places. If you like Harry Potter, you'll enjoy meeting the main character in the book, Ashe. I just love Connie Suttle's books and characters, so well-rounded, believeable and loveable - well most of them are, there are some nasty ones too....

Love it!
When I first started to read this it immediately struck me that unlike other books by Connie Suttle this seems to be aimed at a younger crowd. However, this did not stop me from reading it and I am very grateful that it did not! I can clearly see that this series is connected to the others and not just by some familiar characters making appearances. I can't wait for the next instalment, Ashe is an enigma I am looking forward to solving.

Another GREAT read!
Connie does it again!I've just finished reading this book (started it this morning) and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a nicely shaped piece of the beautifully written 'Blood' series jigsaw puzzle and it'll be great to follow Ashe's adventures and challenges as he grows into his full potential :)I'm looking forwards to reading the next book in the Legend of the Ir'Indicti series - ShadowIn the meantime, I'm off to dive into Blood Rebellion!

Great read
Having loved every single Blood Destiny book I wasn't sure about reading these as they're sometimes reviewed as "teen" lit and I'm 40yrs. But I love them. The characters are great, the relationships between characters are mature and realistic, the story is driven along nicely. Can't wait to get to the next one.

If I read the word “dude” one more time I may scream
The Blood Destiny series I enjoyed enough to read all ten in the last two weeks (who needs sleep). This book I thought was a glitch book but I got through it and halfway through the second in this series before I abandoned hope.
