## Description

No Clean Flux Paste. Convenient syringe dispenser ideal for touch up and repair of surface mount assemblies. A unique mixture of high grade synthetic resin and thixotropic agents designed specifically for use with high temperature lead free and conventional Sn/Pb alloys. It provides the fluxing activity levels that promote fast wetting action and maximum wetting spread. Flux paste is a no clean formulation therefore the residues do not need to be removed for most applications. Excellent wettability, no clean, non-conductive, non-tacky residues, compatible with lead free and leaded solder systems, thixotropic paste and RoHS compliant. RoHS compliant.

Review: Excellent self life and perfect function. - I bought 10ML of MG Chemicals - 8341 on 4-2020 and I forgot I had it for over 5 years! Well I popped the top and to my surprise it was absolutely perfect. I quickly noticed it was really thick and moderately difficult to push out of the large nozzle. I was testing my new Sequre ht 140 hot tweezers. With the assistance of this flux it worked like a dream. When heated the thick opaque cream turned sticky and runny. Spanning out away from the heat source. As I heated the pad on the board and feed the Kester to the tip the flux did it's magic and a beautiful mound of solder formed on the board pad. Not much smoke at 350C and no smell was detected. Being 5 plus years in storage it worked perfectly. I felt that satisfaction well up inside me as I moved to the next pad. The only let down was cleaning the flux off of the board. I was as sticky as a glue trap for mice. ISP had to be applied and scrubbed 4 times to remove it. Aside from that, the flux functioned perfectly and was easy to use. 5 star product as I see it.

**Q: ...so what does flux do exactly? -sorry about the noob question, I am still learning-**
A: Flux basically cleans the metal surface you are trying to make a solder bond to. Soldering effectively requires a "wetting" action, that actually creates a metal alloy at the bond. If there are oxides and dust on the contact surface you are soldering to (like a copper bit on a pcb), you will not create a metal alloy, and the bond could be scraped off with a razer blade. If you use flux correctly, you should not be able to easily scrap off the solder, since the solder and two components you are connecting that are metal, are now chemically bonded as an alloy.

**Q: What is the shelf life?  Does this need to be kept refrigerated like some other solder pastes do?**
A: This is from MG Chemicals Technical Data Sheet:
Shelf life 2 years.
Storage Temperature Limits 18 to 27 °C 65 to 80 °F
Store at around room temperature and protect from direct heat or sunlight.

**Q: Is there a trick to get the plunger to remain in the syringe?**
A: You just have to use it for a while.  I had the same problem because the ring fits so poorly into the back, but once you use it to the point that the plunger is further in, it's much easier to use.   I know, it's a terrible design flaw!

**Q: Is this appropriate to use for stained glass?**
A: You could use it for stained glass, but since your solder would be covering a larger surface area, the flux with a brush would make more sense. This is designed for very small solders in tight areas, like electronics repair.

I quickly noticed it was really thick and moderately difficult to push out of the large nozzle. I was testing my new Sequre ht 140 hot tweezers.
