Intended by me to keep feisty pups and overly confident geese at a respectful distance? Absolutely. I haven’t tested it on tires, but as a visible deterrent it does the job. The only time I’ve “used” it was a dramatic goose encounter at the duck pond—one little shake and a firm presence, and Mr. Honk backed off his Top Gun audition. Mission accomplished, no contact needed. Nice thumper works well

I purchased this for my father to have with him for safety while he goes out on walks by himself. He’s already told me he’s come across mean looking stray dogs so I wanted him to have something to defend himself. This safety stick was pretty affordable and I’m impressed with the quality. It’s solid and has some weight to it. The stained wood is also very gorgeous to look at. Better to have and not need than need and not have! Hope this helps

Nice tire thumper, not as heavy as I thought it would be but still good.

Good tire thumper, good weight, nice sound. I actually use this as a thumper. Been using it for about two weeks now. The finish comes off a little easy but a nice tool to have, I would recommend this UPDATE! one year later and it's still going! I even left this on the back of my tractor, it fell off at 30mph and I saw it through my mirror, I ran it over and it actually broke down the middle, I took a clamp and some glue, and glued it back together. This thing ROCKS! Like I mentioned before a my first review if you get a bad one with a bad knot in it it will break within the first week of used you just simply have them send you another one. I attached a picture of it now. It's beat up but that mean it's been put to good use LOL

Being a commercial driver, It is one of the most important pieces of equipment in my daily routine. The lanyard is very useful and convenient because I can just hook it one my flashlight which is on my belt. It’s out of the way because if I put it down I’ll lose it.

I use this when walking. To many big dogs. I also have one in my car. For when I go to the park. Again people don't keep there big ole dogs on a leash.

I was assaulted by some tires in broad daylight, and I was put on Hold while I called for help - so I bought this for security. It's nice knowing it's right there behind my passenger seat should tires ever present themselves to me in such a way again that they require thumping. Probably a one-use tool for a proper tire thumping. I bought 2 because the 1st one got lost during shipment, but it did eventually show. I use the spare for home-invasion safety. I've hit it on my cemented patio a few times to scare off raccoons and opossums, and the varnish is damaged around the rivet. It's still solid, but it feels like it would probably crack if it really whacked something hard.

Both the RoadPro 18" wood thumper and the SZCO 21" heavy-duty thumper are excellent tools. They have good weight for checking tire pressure, feel sturdy in hand, and the handles provide a secure grip. Useful for truckers or anyone who wants to check tires quickly. Durable construction and handy for other utility tasks too.
