In Baghdad, the Caliph's Grand Vizier Iznogoud has one aim in life: to become Caliph instead of the Caliph. The benign ruler, Haroun al Plassid, is blind to his vizier's scheming to get rid of him and would generally rather take a nap. Iznogoud is faithfully seconded by Wa'at Alahf in trying to put his fiendish designs into action. Review: PRobably Better for Adults - I bought this for my 11-year-old son. He enjoys comic books, and I'm always looking for comics that are appropriate for his age. He has read the Tin Tin series and enjoys the Lucky Luke series, as well. But, he doesn't enjoy this series as much. He told me that the stories are confusing and he doesn't understand some things. I haven't read this book, so I can't help him. I suspect adults would understand this series, though. Review: Yes, they are for adults... - Like one reviewer said, "probably better for adults". Well, it's because it IS for adults, or at least teen up. Many of these French/Belgian Graphic novels have mistakenly been marketed towards children in the US. That includes Tintin, Asterix, Lucky Luke, Iznogoud, Johan and Peewit (by Peyo, the creator of The Smurfs) and The Bluecoats.... There are many more, but these are the most well known. A child can enjoy them, but they won't get all the puns, and most definitely not the historical/political jokes. Heck, there's many adults that don't get them! ;) It's a pity, that because of faulty marketing, these excellent Comic Books don't reach their intended audience... :(

I have lifelong LOVE of comics and despite the name of the art form(comic) and out of the few hundred I've read over the years. this is title is one of a very small handful that makes me laugh out loud with each volume I read. having purely just coincedently just read 1001 arabian nights and found on research the e book on the net that this comic satirises/lampoons some of the stories in the aforementioned i was pleasantly an mildly surprised/impressed. this is written by by the guy who wrote asterix an drawn by a similar artistI can see why its not as well known not having anywhere near as many well rounded characters an clever pun names. but its still a crime this isn't almost as famous as asterix as what it lacks in substance it makes up for in humour

Fun!
From the same stable as Asterix, the Iznogoud books are about the Grand vizier who wants to usurp the Caliph. Fun!
