RH5MA Monitor Headphones

I was a professional recording engineer for many years and used these for remote tracking sessions because of the detail they provide. There is a bit of high end boost that helps with that clarity. Bass is good, accurate but not over powering. They are comfortable and are "on ear" instead of "over ear" allowing for some room ambience. I have used this exact model for more than 20 years so no bluetooth or mics or any of that junk. Just a very flexible, good length analog cable. They are no longer a part of the US Yamaha line but are still made in Japan for that market. Made in Japan shows quality, period. There are getting hard to find and going up in price. If you want them, I would not wait too long because they may disappear.

First of all, these are headphones, not an A-B Box. Not sure why that is in the description. This is my third pair of Yamaha RH5MA. I ruined the first pair accidentally and gave my second pair to my son. These are fantastic sounding reference headphones that are perfectly suited for daily listening if you don't mind being tethered to a long cord. BTW, all three of the RMH5A's I've owned across 15 years were consistently excellent quality phones with the same predictable, high quality sound. These don't have the popular super bass sound like Beats. RMH5A are studio reference quality, which I need for mixing my own music. I also prefer listening to any music the way it was intended to sound when it was recorded. Not sure if these are still in production. Lucky to have found them fresh and brand new in the box. I highly recommend these phones.

Yes, I do have much more expensive cans that sound better but these are probably the best inexpensive On-ear light weight cans. I have others I prefer more for listening to music but they wouldn't work as well for mixing tracks as the reason I prefer the others is due to the resulting sound which of course has colored the sound so they would be bad to mix with. - If I haven't been listening on anything else and then put these On and wear them for a few minutes my hearing adjusts to their level and spectrum and they sound quite nice. Being so light they are easy to wear for extended periods of time. Great for listening to Movies and music (even some Studio work as monitors - just need to validate the final mix with something else). This is my 3rd pair. The ear pad covers breakdown and wear-off with time and the headband broke after a number years on one pair. They are worth chasing down and glad these showed-up on Amazon after being gone for some time. There may be price-performance equivalents out there but I haven't done the search as these have proven their worth over many years. I guess I'll search-out replacements when I can't get these anymore.

I had a pair of these many years ago, and they are still great headphones! Not studio reference type, they color the bass up a bit, but great for practicing or listening to other music. Glad I could find them. I might just buy another pair for backup.

I am not an audiophile, but would definitely consider myself someone who appreciates quality sound. I was looking for the best headphones I could get for under $70 that were non bluetooth and would be lightweight and comfortable. I started looking at Yamaha due to their decent reputation and these RH5Ma definitely deliver in that regard. They are very lightweight, and have a surprisingly full sound considering the size and price. I would definitely recommend these to anyone on a budget who wants a decent pair of headphones! My only complaint so far is that the wire is ridiculously long, but i'm sure some people will consider that a positive thing.

A really great pair of phones for the money. You will be happy with these headphones. They are make in Japan and the quality is very good. I don't think you can go wrong with any YAMAHA product. Enjoy.

Not over the ear, but on the ear. Performance only good, expected better for price and documentation. Sadly, my $20 Philips slightly out performs it, but it's on the ear as well, and both are only comfortable for only 15-20 minutes. Mids wash out towards the high end, its highs not quite natural and seem dimmed. Pain to have to play with equalizer. Lows sound very good, certainly not over powering like a lot of phones in it's price range. However it loses two stars for being on the ear, sound quality should lose just one star, but they really don't deserve to be a 2 star headphone, so I'm calling it a wash with very good, clear lows canceling out the slightly weak lows.

The sound quality is really bad. Especially compared with the exactly the same model I had prehiously.

若い頃HP-1というヤマハのヘッドフォンを愛用していましたが、それに代わるものとして購入しました。評判がいい事もありました。 デザイン：HP-1程のオシャレさはありませんが、小さめにまとめられており、バランスが良いです。折りたたみはできませんが、持ち運びできますよ。とても軽いです。 ケーブル：ねじれにくいですよ。長いですが、外出時にはちょっとたばねって胸の内ポケットに入れてます。 耳当て：HP-1を思い出す、柔らかい合成皮革張りのイヤーパッドは良い感じです。当てる部分を少しずらしてフィットさせれば数時間耳は痛くなりません。しかし頭や耳たぶの大きい方は要検討かもしれません。 音質：一番肝心な点ですが、ヤマハナチュラルサウンドという言葉を思い出します。色付けの無い非常に聴きやすい音です。低音好きはアンプ側のイコライザーで強めたら良いでしょう。ドンシャリと書かれているユーザーのレポートがありましたが、スマホに繋いでのトライしかしていませんが、そんな感じはしませんよ。 ヤマハのアンプや真空管アンプ、ヘッドフォンアンプに繋いででの印象はまた追記します。＞ 包装：パッケージデザインはシンプルですが、実用的なもので、透明プラスチック張りのが多い中で、好感が持てます。すごく謙虚でレトロな紙のパッケージです。海外向けの英文コメントが印刷されてます。 コスパ：素晴らしいコスパですよ。すごく気に入っています。 お薦めできます。 4年後の追記です。 モデルチェンジ無しに未だに出ているので嬉しいし、さすがのクオリティーに魅せられる人が多いのでしょう。聴き疲れしない音質はずっと変わりません。 2020年になったら、イヤーパッドの薄皮が破れてきたので、交換したいなと思いamazonでYAMAHA ヤマハ 交換用イヤーパッド NX006710という純正品を見つけましたが、なんと片耳分で、￥2,641！２使ったら本体の新品が買えてお釣りが来てしまう。更に探したら、有名な専門店で2こ1300円ではありませんか。 予備も含めて２組購入してしまいました。 これで当分RF５Maを楽しめます。 エイジングが進んだせいかますます聴きやすい良い音です。 2025年になって左チャンネルからジージーという音が入る様になって来ました。イヤーパッドを交換したばかりなので残念。
