Brentwood KT-1508BL Dual Voltage 120/220 Volt Collapsible-Travel Kettle, 0.8 Liter, Blue

Took 15 days to arrive in a beat up box probably from being shipped in only an outer paper bag. There was a slight silicone odor at first but quickly dissipated to acceptable after rinsing. It took 5 minutes 30 seconds for a full 110v pot (3.5 cups) of chilled filtered water to boil at 200ft above sea level and automatically turns off when it reaches boiling. There is a release for the handle so it stays open and rigid when you want but easily closes. Others I saw had handles that didn’t close and were too close to the hot silicone body and I wanted something more compact but safe. The lid has a spring-loaded catch so it won’t accidentally fly open, but isn’t hermetically sealed because of the spout, which means pressure can escape. After use it cooled off fast and took a bit of work to collapse the silicone body but not too hard. The max and min lines are hard to read but you can easily feel them. The chord is 28 inches long. I read that someone didn’t find the setting for 220v but it is there labeled on the bottom if I ever need it. This will be perfect for adventure meals, oatmeal, coffee or midnight tea on a train, hotel or RV. Coach and observation cars on Amtrak have big beautiful outlets near each seat. If you read their rules they say something about “plug in appliances” but I have never seen any conductor say anything when I have used other kettles. You could get a cup of hot water if there is an open snack car, but don’t count on it. I’m loving train travel right now, and this makes it even better. Other kettles I’ve used were too big and started glitching when I tried to set temps so now I prefer something simpler and more portable. Way back when I used to use a “sting” to heat water right in the cup but the naked element seems too dangerous, even when I now can use a silicone carrying sleeve. It’s the smallest option except for spirit and backpacking stoves which are a whole other subject. When at home for maintenance, if any calcium collects over time from water, I plan to boil 3.5 cups of water with 1/4 cup of vinegar then rinse. After carefully searching for the best pot at the best price this fills all my travel needs and doesn’t seem flimsy. I’ll update if anything changes.

Bought this kettle for use in my camper van and it does everything needed. Collapses down for stowage, rugged enough to survive bumpy roads, expands and holds enough water for a full pot of tea. Measured the power and it averaged about 792 watts; about 62 amps in my system (nominal 12.6VDC - 2000W PSW inverter). It takes almost exactly 6 minutes, or about 6.2 Ah to boil the full kettle. Faster and easier that using a propane or butane stove, and no fumes in a small camper. Fill it up, plug it in, continue fixing other stuff and when the auto shut-off trips....make the tea. No waiting and watching, and no boiling over. Set it aside to cool off, have breakfast, then collapse the kettle and stow it. Easy. I started by boiling a few kettles of water with a little white vinegar to get rid of any taste and now it's clean and clear. Haven't had it long enough to evaluate long term reliability, but for the price it's a great buy.

We've been using this for travelling to help prep baby formula. It's pretty compact and has been durable enough so far to withstand a few flights and multiple hotels. Volume wise it's perfect and it's compact travel mode is ideal for sticking it in a suitcase. The one negative i would say is that i'm not convinced that it reaches boiling temperature, i'll need to stick a thermometer in it to test thoroughly but it's doesn't 'boil' to a temperature that i would expect. Generally satisfied so far though.

This worked perfectly for a trip to India to be able to make backpacking meals in my hotel room. The dual voltage is handy and it collapsed down small enough not to take up too much room in my suitcase.

On a times when I go to schools, I cannot always find their work room or the area that they keep the coffee. This coffee pot collapses fit in my tote bag. I can heat it up in seconds. All I need is a bottle of water in the classroom and I use the instant Folgers coffee bags perfect. When I’m done, rinse it in the sink dried out stick it back in my bag. I love it.

This thing is brilliant. I never leave a review unless there is a negative thing I want others to be aware of before they buy - but this little kettle is the bomb. I researched so many options and am glad I got this one. Collapses easily. Heats quickly. Pours nicely. Works consistently. Large capacity. My only hesitation when I bought it was the design of the fold out handle but that works well too. All pros and no cons.

Bought this dual voltage item foe our Europe trip. Easy to change from 110 to 220. Collapsible works well. Filled it to maximum and it boiled in 2 min 45 sec. The automatic stop works well. No smell, no weird taste. This is an incredible item. Would recommend and would buy again. The Brentwood company was great compared to another company that never delivered even after 3 months of making the order.

This has become very handy for making coffee with an Aeropress in hotel rooms in North America and Europe. It packs down pretty well. Recommended. Also great for Cup o Noodles when food options are limited while travelling.

This folding kettle really surprised me with it's build quality and function. I travel for work on various continents, and always need a kettle for making early morning coffee etc. I love how compact and portable this is but it still feels like it will last and be reliable. It's great that I can set it for 120 and 220 volt and take it everywhere.

The perfect solution for my frequent travels from Canada to Chile. Kettle has a flat-head screw style switch on the bottom to change between 120V/60Hz and 240V/50Hz power requirements which was necessary to operate it while I was down in Chile and will be very useful when traveling to other 240V/50Hz countries outside of North America. The kettle folds up very nicely and is very durable and compact when collapsed for storage.
