The "rope" is a thin cable wrapped in plastic. It's about 3/32" or less than 2.4mm thick, and very lightweight. For a beginner it's a little too light to get into proper rhythm easily. I spent most of the first 3-4 workouts just trying to go 30-40 jumps without it getting twisted or out of step etc. Yes some of that is learning curve, but that's my point. I personally would be able to get into the jumping rhythm better with a rope with a little more heft to it. After a couple weeks I am able to go for minutes at a time (250-300 jumps) without fouling up, but even after getting used to the thin light rope I foul up before I tire out. Maybe that's common but not what I'm looking for as a beginner - I don't want to spend most of my effort just trying not to foul the rope instead of focusing on going longer and building endurance and skill or speed.The adjustable handles do work well once you get them tuned in.

Can't get a better jump rope for this price.They are so cheap I would just buy a bunch of them and continue to use new ones if I beat them up. The great thing about these is that they are very fast. The plastic bearing handle is surprisingly effective. They twirl so fast it actually stings when you mess up. Good reminder to work on your form!The cable is durable and doesn't really kink, although I keep my Jump Ropes on a Water Hose holder that is round in order to avoid that from happening. I used one of them outside and tore a little of the cable covering off where it was hitting cement but I assume that kind of damage would happen with any jump rope being used in that fashion.I would advise anyone using these to tighten the clasp prior to every use because since they are adjustable, some people adjust them for their use but don't always assure a secure fastening. I have only had two occasions where people have launched an un-tightened clasp across the gym and we use the ropes daily.FOR THIS PRICE, YOU CAN'T BEAT IT! I originally bought the rope for double unders, the speed was amazing. Soon, not only doubles were attainable but triples. One morning while alone in the lab I theorized that a quadruple would be possible. They said it was crazy without bearings, but I wanted to prove them wrong damnit. So with a little WD-40 and some laser calibration, I began the experiment . In a flash of speed not seen since the atom bomb, a quadruple was replicated for just a few moments. A triumph, but sadly it remained undocumented. I began a journey overseas later that month to Cern. They scoffed at my theories. In the excelerator, combined with the rope, I was going to break the quintuple barrier . It would succeed or I would die. No one would stop me. We went from doubles to triples then to the world's first sustained quadruple, the intensity was blinding. Finally in a burst o light and glory witnessed not since the dawn of time , the universe seemed to freeze and I was suspended in air having achieved a quintuple. My mission accomplished, I went to the break room to drink a post workout smoothie. So yea the rope's pretty good, but I would have liked more heavy duty end-caps.

So far, I've had this rope for about a month, and it's taken some getting used to. It's much lighter than "normal" ropes, and therefore, I had to adjust my "timing" when using it, but that's a minor thing. What I'm really starting to like about it is that it hardly kinks, if at all. I keep it coiled up in my bag most of the day, and when I'm ready to use it, it doesn't tangle up like some others.The thickness of the rope is much smaller than your standard rope, which is great for me, as I jump barefoot more often than not. It also doesn't sting when it does hit my toes/feet.Overall, I do like this rope and would recommend it to others. The only thing left to is its durability and how long it lasts.

I just recently got back into working out after an extended hibernation period. I like interval training with my rest periods being active rest periods (you literally become a fat furnace) and was getting bored with step ups and jumping jacks. I personally own a lot of pro source fitness equipment and have never been let down. They also typically have the best prices which makes them my first choice for any fitness needs. This rope is a great rope for the money and performs excellently. I am not the gentlest person when it comes to my gym time. I've thrown these on the ground over and over, stepped on them over and over, had them poorly wrapped up in my gym bag with an ab roller and a kettle bell over and over... and my abused rope just keeps loving me. I would definitely recommend this rope to anyone looking for a speed rope... Oh and as for that one thing, well I wish I would have gotten the green one :(...P.s. yes you can do double-unders with it, gah!

I am a CrossFitter and get lots of compliments for my speed rope…perfect for double unders. i am a bit above 5' and it is adjustable which is GREAT. i have yet to cut the wire to my exact size, for now i have it tied up, but will cut, it gets annoying….but the little black wire covers did come off and are missing, shouldn't be too big of a deal. for the price this is PERFECT, unless u are looking for something with some weight. the color selection is great as well. gave it 4 stars because the covers came off but now that i think about it don't know how they would design them so they wouldnt come off and still make it adjustable. WORTH IT !!!!

I like this speed rope. It's not heavy nor is it overly light. It will get scuffed when used on concrete so it's best to use indoors.This is my second one. The previous one lasted 3 years. For the price, you can't beat it. Be careful to note that the rubber end caps will most likely get lost at some point as they are not glued onto the end.The locks for the handles are good. Just make sure they are tight or your rope will go flyin'!

This is my second speed rope and I really like it. Most of the speed ropes that are designed like this (plastic coated wire) are a lot stiffer. This one is very rope like and soft so it makes it a little easier to master the double unders and get a good rhythm going.It will still really hurt if you hit yourself with it. The rope itself it was easy to adjust to the right size, the rubber ends are great for stoping the ends from snagging your gym gear and it is smooth when being used.Nothing more impressive then a person at a gym just skipping like a boss. This rope will get you to that level.

Performance was good but the screws loosen pretty quick compared to other speed ropes of this design. Ended up losing mine outdoors :/

This is a great rope. Not as good as some that I have used but for the price its hard to find a better deal. Its smooth,and rarely get bound up. I did have to tighten the nut in one of the handle when I got it which is why its 4 stars. Haven't had a problem since. If your looking for a cheap rope to take to the beach to impress all the ladies with your double under, this is a good deal!!

This is actually a no-star rating! I have never been so disappointed with an online purchase. I ordered two of these products and only received ONE after waiting TWO months and several inquiries. I had to ask myself if this was some sort of scam. I am a former competitive boxer and this company stated it was a pro's product but the product I finally received was far from being pro worthy. It is more like a Dollar Store quality! I want all my money back and highly disappointed in Amazon for carrying this product.
