Reading the letters is spending much time navigating through the implications of solitude and painful soul-searching, that elevates the heart to high levels. The letters emphasise that childhood is the richest place to seek wisdom and inspiration, not the dusty memories - polished and remoulded by language to make it remarkable. Rilke, in another letter, seeks mankind to bow to necessities which are greater than pleasure and pain and more powerful that desire and resistance.
