Creative Haven Steampunk Fashions Coloring Book (Adult Coloring Books: Fashion)

Steampunk is a genre of books that I have enjoyed for a number of years. The art that has arisen from the literature has been fun and edgy. I have the previous steampunk coloring book by Marty Noble and was really happy to see a coloring book – this time focusing on the fashions (though there are still plenty of elements I look for – gears, clocks, etc.) The women in the pictures are gorgeous, as usual for Ms. Noble and the fashions outrageous, which is what I look for in steampunk. The 31 fashion designs are based on those of the Victorian age but are updated with unusual, slightly racy, and spunky twists. These are all in line with what steampunk is about – a what-if scenario that changes the way the world works and society would proceed. The designs are elegantly drawn, which is exactly what I have come to expect from Ms. Noble. I am always pleased with her designs and look forward to new ones as they become available. I am hoping that she will come out with another steampunk book that is more dedicated to the machinery of the genre. I would love to see robots and strange cars and flying machines as the focus instead of the background. As with other Creative Haven coloring books, the pages are perforated for easy removal, are printed on bright white paper, and the designs are on only one side of each page (the back of which is left blank.) I find that some of my gel pens and, of course, all of my pencils work fine with these pages but when I use markers, I have to test for ink seeping through. If it does, I use freezer paper or cardstock to keep the page beneath from being marred. Coloring in adult coloring books has become the way I relax at the end of the day. I find that coloring, as with other hobbies that involve a single focus and handwork, help me to de-stress by allowing my brain to release all of the tension and thoughts of tomorrow. I focus on the here and now and exactly where I am putting my colors. I would love to say that I am good at coloring but the truth is, my projects are a learning process. I prefer to think that there are no mistakes, only the opportunity to try and see if something works. If not, then it was only ink and paper and I can always try again. My thoughts, especially to someone new to the hobby, just relax, enjoy yourself and have fun the same way children do when they are coloring. And, honestly? Don't be afraid to color outside the lines.

** Video displays a flip through of the book ** I have been waiting for the new edition of this coloring book to come out and I have not been disappointed. The Steampunk Fashion coloring book has to be one of the best designed coloring books out there. The pages are easy to tear out so you can do with them what you want. The images don't seem pixilated to any degree. Each page is unique and beautiful and my biggest concern with the book is where to start and what colors to use. The designs are so gorgeous it's impossible to go wrong and they are really fun. I have been working on a few pages and it's take me a bit of time but I find I am so excited every time I step back and look at the overall pages. I have been holding off on my review to show some of my finished designs with different medians but it is taking me a bit to perfect my art so I will be back with an update. Steampunk Fashions by Marty Noble is my first Steampunk.Coloring Books . I decided to go back to the Victorian themed book because, I liked the Vampires book the author had done previously. The 31 pictures of woman dressed in various Steampunk fashion. Blends the styles of Victorian dress with 20th century touches. That are very detailed and a lot of fun to color The designs are done in a "close up" portrait style which not only gives you the fashion to color . Hairstyles, accessories and facial features are all clearly drawn to enhance the coloring experience of this book. Creative Haven is on of my favorite coloring book publishers because of the features they include in their books. ~ There are 2 color example pages on the over pages, one on the front and one on the back. ~ The book opens and lays flat easily. ~ each page is printed on one side of the page. The reverse side is black. ~ each of the 31 pages is perforated ~ pages are thick enough my gel pens don't bleed through and, there is only the slightest warping to the paper While coloring this book , I learned my mother had purchased the say book . This showed me that this book appeals to all ages. As a good introduction to Steampunk. I would highly recommend this book to others who enjoy Steampunk or portrait coloring books

Love it! This is the first of the adult coloring books I have seen that really got my interest, the images are clear and dynamic, the subject matter already an interest of mine and works well as a coloring book material. Marty Noble's material is interesting and challenging without having to resort to loads of teensy weensy, super fussy dots and patterns. Many of the adult coloring books I have bought recently are positively loaded with so much unnecessary lilliputian patterrn work and the resulting material so busy that it is less coloring book and more like a chore. I find myself finishing that stuff simply because I paid for it. This book is actually quite exciting. That said, however, there are a few things that keep this review from being a soIid 5. For instance, I would like thicker, better quality paper that is more capable of tolerating different media. And I have no idea why Marty Noble has included so many feathers, leaves and wedding type items in the book, steampunk is not about that stuff, in fact I have never met a steampunker who wore or carried feathers of any kind in any way, ever. I am sure someone out there is a walking exception but this book features feathers and leaves or flowers on every single page. I very much appreciate the conservative,respectful approach that was taken toward this subject matter. Had this project been in the hands of the wrong people this book could easily have gone the way of barely dressed big bosoms and behinds. But they still could have (read: Should have) included more corsets and shorts and pants (not all steampunk women delight in wearing mounds of heavy Victorian skirts) . And what about men? I was very glad to discover that Marty Noble offers other Steampunk coloring books that also include men. There is also an intense love of gadgetry in the Steampunk world. I would like to have seen more of the tech and gadgetry that Steampunkers value so highly. I have only just received my copies of the follow up books I mentioned, but they really seem to address this area. The world of Steampunk offers a unique educational quality as well. (Creative Haven could have included detailed explanations of the images. What is the model wearing and why? What are those gadgets, what do they do? etc. I know Creative Haven and others offer some other Steam Punk treatments as well. But I hope Creative Haven will make this into a good, long series, steampunk has much that could be mined for a coloring book. There are also different factions to it as well. How cool would it be to buy a coloring book that features Tribal Bellydancers that are decked out in Steam punk paraphernalia? For that matter why not a line of bellydancer coloring books? Well, those are wishes for the (hopefully not too distant) future. Until then grab this book for yourself, it is a very good addition to an adult coloring book library, not to mention a great gift for the creative adult in your world.

Absolutely and totally delightful coloring book. I will definitely be purchasing this coloring book again. I am an adult colorist and I don't know when I have been more satisfied with a coloring book. I love coloring fashions, especially ones this interesting. The pictures are exceptionally well drawn, the models are lovely, their clothing is interesting and so are the designs that accompany them. Marty Noble is one of the very best illustrators working today - she never disappoints and is super talented. It is a generous 31 pages, and the pictures are only on one side of the page so you can use whatever markers you like. I did place a blank sheet of paper behind the picture's page just to be on the safe side, but it probably isn't necessary. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys detailed coloring and fashion.

I the Creative Haven Coloring Books! They are great quality and inks don’t bleed!! I have found a plethora of different titles from them and just can’t get enough at a wonderful price!! Don’t hesitate... search Creative Haven and I’ll tell you right now that not even the tip of the iceberg will show up in one search and more will pop up when you least expect it!! I’ve made a habit of looking in the “others you may like” on the page of one I buy because each issue will bring up new ones that weren’t in your search. I think it’s just a calculated tease!! Putroppo il libro ha tre pagine incollate,due in modo lieve(Ma che comunque staccandole si sono leggermente rovintate) e una incollata un po' di più. Peccato perché i disegni sono bellissimi anche se complessi. La carta è di buona qualità (come tutti i libri creative haven)...cosa per me importantissima do 5 stelle al libro in se ( escludendo le pagine un po' incollate di cui non ha colpa l' auture)

Les images sont très belles. La qualité du papier est très bien. J’aime le fait qu’il y est une image par page car on peut aussi colorer avec les crayons de gel. Je l’ai acheté pour moi et je suis très satisfaite de mon achat. Merci

I love steampunk and fashion so this is a great book with loads of very detailed and interesting pictures. Each one of the 30 different steampunk designs have images of clocks, cogs, victorian clothing, goggles and other technologies accessories. The lady in each picture is dressed with bustier, corsets or similar attire and often have gloves and holding parasels and are wearing high boots. I loved colouring the different designs and you could use different colouring mediums to complete them. The pages are perforated for easy removal of each page. They do not have designs on the reverse but are blank which is perfect if you are using alcohol inks. If you do use pens that will bleed, it is advisable to put a piece of board under the picture anyway so that it won't go on to the other pages. Each page has a border around it. I really think this is a great book and suitable for adult colouring. I have added photographs for your convenience.
