From the Publisher Review: Brilliant book, but with a lot of fill-In gaps! - Sadguru has perhaps taken the safe route while writing a book on death! I personally feel that, either he should not have written the book or taken a direct approach and written everything bluntly. Somewhere, Sadguru was trying to take the middle path by avoiding many unpleasant things ( for many readers), about death and post-death, that are given in the Garuda Purana. While his other books are brilliant and very knowledgeable for a seeker, this particular book , for me, was very incomplete, unless of course, Sadguru decides on a sequel as part-2. Review: Good book - Great book!

Mind Opener
The title of this book may sound morbid or somewhat demotivating to anyone. Some might also say - βwho wants to read about such a subject, everyone knows that they will die someday eventually, so what is there to readβ. But knowing that you will eventually die and understanding it are two completely different things. In this book sadhguru takes on this subject in his usual openness and to the point style of addressing things. By addressing this subject-he has actually tried to convey some important and divine truths which no one can deny. The book makes you think, about your life, your existence as a life force and handles your worldly meanness and selfishness in a head-on manner. From a book on death, it becomes an mind opener and tries to give you a perspective on how you can make this a better life.

In Understanding Death, I Discovered Life
There are books you readβ¦ and then there are books that read you back. Death β An Inside Story falls firmly into the second category. In a world where death is often wrapped in fear, avoidance, or clinical detachment, Sadhguru approaches it with clarity, depth, and an almost disarming calmness. Instead of presenting death as an end, he reframes it as a natural transition β a process that can be understood, prepared for, and even handled consciously. What stood out to me was how the book blends spirituality with practicality. It doesnβt just stay philosophical; it dives into: β’ What happens at the moment of death β’ How one can support a dying person β’ The significance of rituals and energy β’ Preparing oneself for a βgood deathβ The writing is simple, yet layered. You can read it casually, or pause after a paragraph and sit with your thoughts β both feel equally valid. At a personal level, this book shifts your perspective. It quietly nudges you to reflect: If death is inevitable, how consciously are we really living? Rather than creating fear, it brings a strange sense of ease β almost like turning on a light in a room you were hesitant to enter. Final Thoughts: This is not just a book about death. It is a book about living with awareness. A meaningful read for anyone exploring spirituality, inner growth, or simply seeking a deeper understanding of lifeβs most certain truth.

Thanks Sadhguru..I wish one day I come to Isha
I saw my father die right infront of me in the ambulance and I couldn't do anything and there are many like me who must be unaware of what death is untill they see it themselves or someone very close to them die. You can prepare for an exam or competition, how can you prepare for Death? No one teaches you about Death. This is one topic where one cannot pull religion in between because it happens to all.. doesn't spare anybody..we burn the body & you bury it, what's the difference? Just like Sadhguru says that we were like dead before being born and we will be dead for a long time after we die, in the middle we live for just a small amount of time so we should live it consciously. I have so many questions that no one can answer, not even Google will help me this time.. Just like how in the YouTube videos, the beauty with which Sadhguru explains and clarifies every question of ours, I am 150% sure that all my answers regarding Death will be answered.. Thank You Sadhguru for everything that you are doing for us. I will post a re-edit/update later on this review after I get the book and I'm done reading with it.. can't wait Update as on 09/06/2021: I promised to write the update on my experience of reading this treasure. I found answers to my many unanswered questions just for example, after the death of my father, right from the day1 people started telling me to be very careful and cautious for the next 1 year, they said that you can be in great danger plz be careful for just this 1year,, I found this very offending because suddenly all these people have started projecting my father as the probable cause of my harm, the same person who nurtured and took care of me now wants to harm me just because he is dead? This bothered me so much.. after reading this book I got the answer as to with what intent people were saying me what they were saying. I would Share 1 more instance of my unanswered question getting it's answer from this book. After the death of my dad, people "warned" me to never ever go "inside" any Pran-Praristhit mandir (a consecrated temple), this was one of the worst part of my experience, because I am a kind of person who goes to temples, many times when I come across any temple I just go inside & unconsciously bow down and go back to my work. But now they told me to never ever go to a temple untill 1 year is over, it kept reminding of the worst loss a son could have but I couldn't help it, for 1 full yr I had to go through this torture, I wanted answers as to why they told me so? This book gave me answers. Some other common rituals of which the explanation I didn't know, for example why the male members shave their head and why it is never good to wear the clothes of the deceased and why it's recommended to donate it to different people. There are numerous instances like this, but I don't want to go on bcoz it will be too long. These suggestions (which felt like rude instructions) from relatives and other people didn't come from their clarity, I agree to that, but they were not wrong either in some way, it's that I found out that the "1 year" time business was just to be on a safe side because no one knew for how long a particular thing needs to be done so they said 1 year 1 year. Also I would add 1 final thing before I end, all the experience I wrote here was not a fancy phase for me, only if someone who has experienced death of their near and dear ones can understand what I am talking about, what those people who live on after their loved one's demise has to go through. At least die well if you cannot live well
I have been wanting to read this book since its launch. But by reading the synopsis of the book, I thought lot of the content will go over my head. I thought it would be about various lokas like pitru lok, indra lok and all that. But having purchased and read the book last week, I found it an amazing read touching on all aspects of death in the journey of life. If you cannot live well at least learn to die well π. Yes, for people totally unexposed to eastern philosophy some chapters may seem very heavy. For those who are even little bit familiar of things like pancha bootha (5 basic elements) and prana, etc. it's relatively easy to understand. Having said that - there is a way to read this book. You need to trust the author on his immense wisdom and read with an open mind. Only then you can get the full benefit of reading this book. With our limited knowledge it is just not possible to imagine everything that is stated in the book. And just because we are unable to imagine does not mean that it's not true. Do not pick up this book if the purpose is to evaluate how well the author has written or how he has presented the facts and so on. You can pick up other books for the purpose. I have read a lot over the years but still the way this book presented new facts and new insights is amazing. Glad that I did not let it pass and purchased it. As I close the review remembering this line from a song - Zindagi tho bewafa hai ek din tukrayegi. Mauth Mehbooba hai apne saath lekar jayegi. Marke jeene ki ada jo duniya ko sikhlayega
