What a deal for $250! The quality and finish are too notch. Expect around 3 hours to assemble. I would recommend a large assembly space that would not scratch a piece. I used basement space (concrete floor) with cardboard pieces to assemble on. Pay close attention to the directions and illustrations in the manual. Everything was labeled/marked well for assembly. It went together perfect. The chest is lightweight, but sturdy. I would recommend this product to anyone!

This is a very solid and nice piece of furniture for the price. It looks good and the drawers are easily adjustable of they don;t line up exactly right at first. Assembly took about 4 hours, but it was worth it. This chest feels like it could last a lifetime. It seems the company may have received complaints in the past that their furniture fell over too easily. This is far too heavy and firmly set to do that. Also, the drawers are designed so only one can be open at a time. But even beyond that, the instructions recommend the chest be secured to studs in the wall using L braces included, which crosses the line into obsession.

I love, love, love this dresser. I do not usually write reviews, but my experience with this purchase has tempted me to write one. I took one star off my rating for the chest because of the time it took me to complete the set up. The package was delivered when I was at work, so it was left outside the house. Carrying it inside the house, over 4 steps was really difficult for one person as it was very heavy. The item was very well packed, and nothing was found damaged. I unpacked the box downstairs and carried the parts upstairs a few at a time. The chest was darker in color than shown on-line, but I did not mind too much. I made sure I checked each of the items in the box against the diagrams in the instruction booklet (manual), and was lucky that nothing was missing. I also counted all the hardware, and set them in groups for when I would start the assembly of the chest. I had read several reviews of the chest before deciding to buy it, so I was well prepared for a long assembly time. I read the manual several times to get the idea of how the assembly will ‘flow’. I was particularly grateful to the reviewer, who stressed the importance of not rushing the assembly of this chest, and of carefully following the diagrams in the manual. The end result is a great looking chest, which took a really long time to assemble (I did it by myself, taking breaks as needed, and spread the assembly over 2 days – Saturday and Sunday). The instructions were confusing at times, and not all the items were labeled. Working from the manual, I assigned labels to all the items without labels before beginning the assembly, and this helped a lot. Once the main chest is assembled, make sure that you put on the back piece before standing the unit upright!! After putting in the drawers, balancing them so that they close smoothly and without gaps was a real pain, but fairly easy to do by tweaking the cams? on the left side of the drawers, put in for this purpose. I find the safety feature of this chest quite useful, and even though it is not made of real wood, this is a beautiful piece of furniture, and really good value for money. All in all, I am very happy with my purchase. If you buy one, make sure you take your time to put it together, and follow the instructions very carefully.

Took a while to put together (woman alone doing it) but looks great. Drawers line up just perfectly with a small amount of adjustment which was easy to do. Very heavy and solid. Had a small issue with the top (MY fault) and I went on the Sauder website as instructed in the manual and they replaced it, no questions asked and it had it in 3 days. Superior Customer service! Love the look. Have ordered Sauder products in the past and am replacing a Sauder set that I bought 12 years ago and that set is still in good condition. Will be ordering the rest of the pieces to make a complete bedroom set.

I actually have never bought a piece of furniture I couldn't assemble until today so I know the fault doesn't lie with me. This chest of drawers was partially assembled (except backwards) however someone put the metal slides in together incorrectly so that none of the drawers could be inserted from the front!!!! The drawers would only slide in backwards but by then, the chest was nearly put together before I realized it was screwed together completely wrong. It arrived with the hardware screwed in backwards so I removed all the internal metal slides from each of the spaces where 4 drawers were supposed to slide into the chest and easily glide in or out. That did not happen. I made 4 trips to my mom's house to work on this and struggled to put the chest together which shouldn't have taken more than a couple hours. The veneers split and cracked, then the entire piece collapsed after I removed the incorrectly assembled pieces. I had no choice but to start over however due to the flimsiness its too dangerous to use and will have to be taken to the dumpster. This is NOT easy to assemble so don't be fooled by the written instructions with code with the chest. Anyone considering buying this, take it from an expert. I have bought $$$$$ worth of merchandise from Amazon and have never been so completely disgusted and frustrated by the junk which was delivered. Because it took over a month to re-assemble, I am not eligible for a store credit or refund. I have no other choice now but buy something locally, already assembled and have it delivered. I started the process of ordering this as a Christmas gift, its mid-April and so here we are. I've had to re-order this same chest and nightstand 2-3 times before finally getting the order to ship. Certainly you can do better. but if not, this seller should stick to selling paper plates. I will now end up paying twice what I should have had to if this had been delivered correctly the first tine. Learn from my mistakes. You get what you pay for.

This is the second piece of furniture I purchased from the Sauder Shoal Creek line. I wanted it to match what I already had in place. I'm very happy with it. The drawers slide open easily, and there is a feature so that only one drawer can open at a time as a safety measure. The hardware used to put the dresser together is of good quality. The height, width and depth are exactly as advertised. I like the color, I like the quality, and you can't beat the price.

Thankfully, the actual product was undamaged, but it would be beneficial for the manufacturer to improve their packaging to ensure a better first impression. While the packaging and assembly time were minor issues, they did not diminish the chest's overall performance and aesthetic appeal. If you're looking for a reliable and elegant chest to elevate your bedroom organization, the Sauder Shoal Creek 4-Drawer Chest is a solid choice.

I'm amazed at how every hole lined up perfectly after putting this dresser together. Sauder has come a long way with quality. I really like the appearance and size. It easily supports my 50" LCD TV. The shipping box was heavy and corner protectors were taped on and I'm sure it helped prevent damage to the dresser. I'm pleased with the end result and I normally avoid pressboard furniture altogether instead choosing real wood craftmanship. My only advice is to pay attention when installing the drawer slides because the tiny screw that holds in the slide can easily strip out the drawer material which I believe is MDF and doesn't go in very deep. This may be an area that Sauder could improve on. Also, if you're like me and are bothered by heavy off-gassing from the glues used to produce pressboard products then I suggest you give it a few days next to an open window. For an apartment dweller this dresser fits the bill. How long will it last compared to wood? Can't say. As for now though, I'm happy with my dresser.
