Solid & sturdy
This compass is solid and sturdy. Its components are heavy enough that nothing loosens as I'm working with it. A great compass for woodwork! One bonus is that it holds "regular" pencils, even the nubs I'd otherwise throw away.

Heavy duty. Missing key set screw!
Like. Heavy duty. Can be used as a divider. Dislike. Missing the very small set screw used to secure a pencil in its sleeve. The whole point of a compass is to draw a circle so holding a pencil fixed in the sleeve is critical.

Poor Quality Control & Support
The compass is "rough hewn" but solid -- it's not a tool that will be a pleasure to use, but if you get a good one, it should be quite serviceable. On the first compass that I got, the pencil holder was misaligned with the arms (which may not matter much in use, but, at the very least, makes them difficult to store) and very stiff. The pencil holder is *just* big enough to hold a wood pencil, it won't hold most mechanical pencils or pens. Hopefully the replacement will at least have the pencil holder aligned with the arms. Update: returned the 1st compass, the replacement also had a misaligned pencil holder. Attempted to contact the seller to see if this was a bad batch (in the photos in the product listing the pencil holder appears to be aligned with the arm of the compass), they did not respond.

Solid - does the job very well
This is a very good product - solid and does the job. I thin marker pen will fit, but you have to search around, as most markers are large. Ability to use with a marker is particularly good for mandala drawing.
