Does it's job perfectly fine. . Handsome is as handsome does. ***Update: 4 months in use. It stinks.
No problems with weakness in it's construction. No cracks. No dents. It looks perfectly able to hold veggie scraps. It just doesn't rise to the price of $44 in my mind. Looks more like it should be $20-25. Looks like something you might see a kid shoveling sand into on the beach.....more like a toy than an adult kitchen item. I have a feeling if it gets dropped accidentally, it will dent easily;.******* Update 4-5 months later: It smells. I keep it right next to my kitchen sink. I only put veggies & fruit...no meat, no bread. I empty it every couple of weeks. I wash the filter, bin & lid. Ok for a few days. Then it starts to smell. Gets worse as it fills up. Doesn't smell too bad once cover is back on. I spray around it with cinnamon spray right after I replace the lid. That works. All bins must smell when you take off the lid. Also I spilled some olive oil on the counter where I keep the compost bin. Didn't notice the spill. After a few hours the oil ate the paint off around the bottom edge. My own fault. No dents yet. If I had to do it over, I'd get one with one simple bucket type handle. With 2 side handles it takes 2 hands to carry it. Issues opening the doors . Chancier to drop. I'd be in a world of misery if I dropped it when full....inside or out. I may buy an ugly bin with one bucket handle & keep it under the sink in a closed cabinet. I'll keep this pretty one on the counter.....just store something else in it....napkins, soap, sponges., whatever.

so good. This container is larger than most
So far, so good. This container is larger than most, which works for us as we generate a lot of compost material while freezing and canning. No smells or fruit flies. My only concern is with the bin being metal, any sharp bangs would probably dent and distort it and it would now longer seal tight. I recommend any buying this to take care not to be too rough with it.

Great size for countertop
Great size for countertop. Perfect color to match my kitchen. Nice lid that fits snugly. No complaints after a few weeks of using it.

I just think this is adorably cute.
I just think this is adorably cute.... it's not real strong - because if it was it would be too heavy.... it holds a good amount of compost, which is good if you eat lots of vegetables you'll fill it up. It's plenty strong for its intended use - just don't beat on it with a baseball bat and it will be fine !
