I appreciate any help.** A: This CD Player has both external power and internal batteries (1 AA). **Q: I just wanted to know if this (Sony DNF430) has recording capabilities ?** A: No **Q: How do you turn the player off? Is there a button or do you have to unplug it?** A: It does not have a dedicated power on/off button except a Radio off button. It powers on when a CD is loaded or the play button or radio on button is pressed. You may turn off the radio with the radio off button. It goes to sleeping or stand-by mode after a certain period of time when CD play finishes or radio off button is pressed. But it never bothers me without a dedicated power button. By far it is the best CD player I've ever used. Sadly it has been rolled out and replaced by iPod. **Q: What happened to the power savings mode? Cannot use the equalizer because I cannot turn off the power mode.Missing.** A: I don't have the instruction manual, but the answer may be that the area with the three raised dots next to "hold" on the reverse side of the player has the answer. The slider with the dots moves. I discovered this when my player was stuck on "hold" Try moving that to the various positions . Good luck.
