I have several pair of tennis shoes that have laces and bending down to tie them when they come undone can be difficult with a bad back. I've loosened the laces on all my tennis shoes so I can slip them on and off easily. I decided I'd replace the tied laces with these so I didn't have to worry about them coming untied, which they would do at the most inconvenient times. The directions that came with them were a bit over simplified and leave out an important step. You must first determine "carefully and exactly" where to cut your original shoelaces. This can be tricky so put your shoes on then look at the twist crease in the lace where you usually begin the cross of your bow, then pull the laces together and look at the screw-on pieces to make sure once they're installed they will allow the room you want at the connection point. When you cut the shoelaces they must be carefully burned with a lighter or match (quickly and just enough to melt the nylon and seal off the end to prevent fraying). I had "flat laces" on all my shoes, not round, so this required a bit of extra heating and a pair of tweezers to fold the lace in half then squeeze the still hot, melted end into a piece small enough to fit through the pretty tiny feed hole in the end of the pieces. Once I got the first pair done the remaining 3 pairs went quicker as I became more proficient with this process. In some case you won't have a lot of shoe lace to work with if you wear your tennis shoes like I do. So you feed the burnt end into the hole and slide the piece all the way down to the shoe so you have room to tie your knot. The knot needs to be done carefully and as close to the burnt end of your shoelace as possible. Again, these connectors are small so I had to get the knot nice and tight right to the end then roll it back and forth tightly between my fingers with a bit of force to compress the knot as hard as I could so I could pull it into the connector (with the help of a toothpick and the tweezers on a couple pair). Once both sides are completed you screw the two pieces together and the tension should be exactly where you want it. I'm right-handed so I installed the male threaded piece onto my right shoe laces. After screwing them together your laces are all "twisted up" so you have to hold the connector "very tightly" and slowly untwist the shoelace so it's straight. Two of the four pair of connectors I received had faulty threading, the dark set required a pair of channel locks to get unscrewed and that pair and one silver pair had issues with one side not re-threading all the way leaving a tiny bit wider gap on one shoe compared to the other on the connector. The quality of these isn't great (the ones I got for my grand-daughter were much better), but they did the trick and now my shoelaces stay put, no more dealing with tying or untying shoeslaces. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great product *by S***Y on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on May 21, 2023* We loved them. I like a snug fit in shoes so I was using 1/8" shock cord for laces. This was not an issue until tying the knots. The knot would (barely) go inside one half of the device, not so much on the side with the male thread. I ended up doubling the "lace" over and sewing it closed. Works so far.
