For its intended purpose - safety lockout - it's pretty good. It's not coming off the machine it's locking without a key or destroying it. For hobby lockpickers like me it's great because it's got the best core Master makes. Ok, that's not saying much, but seriously the 6-pin core on this thing is actually pretty good despite having been made by Master. This lock is harder to pick than an American 1100. Which, really, begs the question why their best core can only be found in a plastic lock when they've got locks that are invulnerable to any destructive attack short of power tools that can be picked by a 10 year old. But still, I think this lock is an essential addition to any intermediate hobby lockpicker's collection.

I bought this lock to practice lock picking. It was a great challenge to get into with its tiny spool and serrated pins. My brother is a truck driver and uses these on shipments that don't come with a seal. They're great for that purpose since they can't be shimmed open (ball bearing design) and are a bit of a challenge to pick. Of course, they can just be smashed open since the body is made of plastic, but that would leave a mark and let him know to report it.

First of all, never pick a lock you don't own, and never pick a lock that is in regular use. These rules especially apply for these locks! If you're getting into picking locks and looking for something with a few security pins on the cheap, these are the most secure cores Master Lock makes. Just don't turn the core past where it would normally go in operation, there's nothing retaining the pins and you'll get a very fancy rattle.

It is strange to see such good pick resistance from master lock, especially in a low security plastic body lock. The pins will wear down after extended use (of practice), but that is normal. This has some deep spools and I had a lot of fun picking it open.

It is a plastic lock, not going to keep you out if you want to remove it. It is a great lockpicking lock, hence the 3 🌟. I wouldnt recommend for LOTO. I would recommend an American 1100. It has an "exploding core" so if you pick it to far the pins explode of core.

I have used these Master locks in the past. They perform well and meet OSHA standards for a lockout/tagout program.

Excellent core. If using to practice picking make sure you don't turn the core 180 degrees or else you will drop all the pins and severely damage the lock. Great lock for lockout tag out purposes!
