What is the overall height and width of the vesa attachment plate. my monitor has an inset for the plate and need to know if will fit. thanks

My understanding is that VESA standard attachments are "standard" (why they're called standard). This arm will take two attachment pitches, 75mm x 75mm, and 100mm x 100mm. Screws are supplied.

is it compatible with 27inch imac?

If the iMac has the 4 visa holes yes. It is of a very good make and very sturdy. I am using it for my 24 inch screen but the Arm can hold much heavier and bigger screens. I will reccomend it
