I bought this inexpensive Kalimba, to see if it will work for exercising my stiff, RA thumbs. Much more than I expected for quality, sound, accessories, etc., for the cost! With a musical instrument background (accordion, piano, organ, melodica, autoharp, guitar, clarinet, etc) I found this very easy to play a melody line, but I really want to learn more than the melody line. Within 2 days I was playing a couple of favorite songs with harmony, another with chords to supplement, and almost grasped a favorite with arpeggio harmony! (I will reward myself with a 38-chromatic key, once I accomplish the song with the arpeggio harmony.) This instrument is great for any age. The sound is lovely, and I like how portable. As well, hubby has a hearing issue and is often under headphones to watch videos; it would be too noisy for him, playing any of the other multitude of instruments that I have, but this doesn't disturb him! It may not sustain like the more expensive, but it does resonate enough for learning. (Lie most the 2 highest keys mostly plunk, but not unexpected with the high-pitched, short tines. A chain & hooks ( less than $3) can be easily mounted if more resonating/sustain is desired. for what little this instrument cost, I would be tempted to put my own eye hooks into the end of the top bridge and add a chain from costume jewelry, to see how that would work. The manual is somewhat useful for those who know little to nothing about music. But, one does not have to know how to read music, because number tabs can be used! I highly recommend this for cost, quality, accessories, and tone. All those positives makes it 5-stars for its cost!

Please forgive the video - the way I set up the camera was a little hard to play at the same time 😅 This kalimba is absolutely beautiful, both aesthetically and by sound. It sounds almost like a music box and the tuning process is simple - it took me around thirty minutes to properly tune my kalimba, but when I was done I felt super accomplished and was fascinated with the sounds of each note. The book included comes with instructions on how to play two songs, but I personally would recommend looking up what you want to learn to play online. Avatar's Love is a pretty common kalimba song and is very simple and beginner friendly. This instrument is fantastic for people who may never have played an instrument before. It is easy to learn and to play, and enjoyable to practice. The instrument is quiet enough not to bother your neighbors if you live in an apartment and loud enough to play for a room of people at the same time. The blue color is very pretty and easy to clean. It does not get dirty easily. The keys do need to be cleaned; the wipe provided in the bag is pretty much good enough to do so. I would fully recommend this product. I have anxiety and ADHD and wanted to see if it would help, but the sounds the kalimba makes are extremely calming and satisfying. If you're debating on if you should get it, let this be your sign to go in!

Amazing, beautiful sounds, gorgeous blue, easy to learn (kind of). Don't give up, takes time and patience. Using your thumbs only is not the only way, you can use all 10. Having nails is better, sound improves, easier to touch only one key at a time. Tuning is easy. I recommend Gstrings app. Drawstring bag, cleaning cloth, hammer, thumb protectors, stickers with all the notes for placing on Kalimba, and manual all included. A little confusing on the placements of the notes. Not like piano keys. Feeling proud after playing a song is an awesome feeling. Much better to carry around than a piano.🎹🤗

I ordered this product looking for a new instrument to pick up in my past time, and I have to say I am pleasantly surprised by this Kalimba. The wood is light, (though thin), and the color/dye is a lovely deep slightly turquoise-y blue. The etched design is pretty clean, and the wood (possible plastic) is smooth, so there's no worry of splinters. The drawstring bag is made of a soft velvety material that's lovely for a soft, non-abrasive bag, but seems to attract every pet hair, loose pine needle, or any other debris it happens to come across. My Kalimba had one "dead" tine, it doesn't ring too well, and just makes a high-pitched PLINK sound. I havrnt had to use that specific key, thankfully, but it might be wprth noting for others. Overall, this Kalimba otherwise has a lovely, music-box sound. Definitely seems like a good Kalimba for anyone wanting to start out.

This kalimba sounds so pretty! Each and every tine plays perfectly. I did have to tune it, but it was super easy to tune. It is very sturdy and comes with a heavy duty case. It has a nice aesthetic being clear. And honestly it is wonderful to help relax you during anxiety attacks- that is what I initially started using the kalimba for, now I just want to play random songs just to hear the little chimes. This kalimba is so delightful sounding. It's a step up for me because I am use to kalimbas that sound like music boxes. This kalimba is made of mahogany wood yet it feels like I am holding a feather, it's very lightweight. The keys are much easier to press than my other kalimbas. The blue black paint finish is eye-catching and pleasing to look at. I find that the crisp bright resonating sound produced by this kalimba is better for playing popular songs. My other music box sounding kalimbas (solid board) are best for playing classical music. Popular songs like 'A Kiss From A Rose' by Seal and 'Lovin You' by Minnie Riperton sound better tabbed on this Kalimba. Thank You to the craftsmen that made this.

Purchased for my daughters 13th birthday. She asked for one specifically. They come in many various colors, shapes & prices. This one fell in the middle price range. It came with all the accessories you need to get started playing. My daughter was playing recognizable music in an hour. It is fun to play with and relaxing. I enjoy the sound of the music it makes. She has been learning flute for about a year and I would much rather listen to her practice the Kalimba- lol It arrived quickly. The box it comes in is decent enough to give as is for a gift. I recommend it for anyone who wants to try to play an instrument. Even if you just want to play around it sounds pretty. We chose a beautiful blue color wood. I am very satisfied with the quality. I got this for my adult son who is severely autistic and non-verbal. He loves music and I figured it was something he could do on his own. My entire family loves it! It comes with a metal hammer but it’s designed to be used with your thumbs. He can use both.

This kalimba has the most beautiful tone for such a small music instrument. Although it is a gift, I found myself trying it out and am amazed at the very pleasant sound. It also appears to be well-made and is a very attractive kalimba and I may get another. It comes with so many extras including a tuning instrument, but having been trained in music I can tell that this kalimba is at this time, already in tune. Someone is going to absolutely love this.
