He wears it swimming and in the shower and it hasn't shown any wear and tear yet. The stop watch and alarm is easy enough for him to use all on his own. I would recommend as a child's first watch.and he is absolutely in love with it. It is water proof so he doesn't have to worry about getting it wet when he washes his hands or does dishes. It is easy enough to work that he set the time on it himself and uses the alarm feature all the time.
