Munchkin Elite Seat Guardian Car Seat Protector, Dark Grey

We are currently using this seat protector with a Chicco Keyfit 30 Infant Carrier. We have the Prince Lionheart 2 Stage Seatsaver, Black in our other car. This one is much nicer. The material is more cloth like than rubbery on the Prince Lionheart, it's thicker and more sturdy, it has the no slip strips on both sides, and it provides better coverage on both the seat bottom and back. It looks better when it's in place as well. It looks light gray in the pictures here, but it's actually more charcoal gray. Yesterday, I pulled out the base for the carrier and checked the seat after it being in for a month. Just leaving a box on the seats for a few hours can leave a dent, so I was a little worried. I was pleased to see that there were no marks or indentations. If you are debating between this one and the Prince Lionheart, definitely go with this one. Nothing wrong with the Prince Lionheart, but this one is much better for just a few bucks more. Update 12/14: We're now using this seat protector with a Britax Advocate G4.1 Convertible Car Seat, Silver Diamonds . The seat by itself is 22 pounds. I've pulled the car seat and protector out a few times to clean the seat bottom and after 16 months of use there are no marks or indentations on the seat whatsoever. This really is a great product. I've soured a bit on the Prince Lionheart since my first review. It hasn't held up nearly as well as the Brica, even with far less usage. The Brica looks just as good now as the day it went in. The back piece on Brica lays flat against the seat back and stays in place because of the headrest strap while the Prince Lionheart kind of flops around. Really, for another ~$4 the Brica is a no brainer. I'm ordering another one as we speak... Update: I keep reading comments that say this product and others like it aren't safe to use. Regardless of if you use this product or not, you need to make sure the seat is snug. This was a two person job when we switched from LATCH to the seat belt. The bottom line is that the car seat shouldn't move more than 1" in any direction. It took a bit of doing but the seat is tight. I'm confident that this is a safe installation. If you have any doubts about yours, you should get it checked by a certified inspector.

This seems to work well and feels sturdy. My kid is pretty unruly in the back seat, and this does a good job protecting the fabric from dirty shoes and scuffs. The bottom portion also helps prevent deep imprints from the car seat itself. It’s much easier to clean when crumbs or debris fall onto the protector instead of the seat. Simple, practical, and does exactly what it’s supposed to do.

Bought this 6 months ago and just bought a second for my husband's car. Its been great to have under a toddler's car seat. It has caught everything from spilled smoothies to potty accidents. With the lip, it keeps things from going on the floor. And its easy to take out (single clip) and wash - it out it in the bathtub with some dawn dish soap.

I purchased two of these seat protection mats by Munchkin after seeing the one my daughter-in-law had in her new vehicle. I had not been using anything to protect my leather seats in my current vehicle, and there were pretty bad divots from my grandkids seats. I purchased a new vehicle and knew I wanted something to protect the beautiful brown leather! I asked her about the ones she had, and she sent me a link. I looked up the same exact mat (these, by Munchkin) on Amazon, and they were $20+ cheaper than where she purchased! These are durable feeling, are a good thickness without being bulky, and have protected her leather great - I am confident they'll make me happy! They are super easy to install, just attach the strap around the headrest and done! They look good and are not very noticeable once the carseat is in place either. I love that the mat folds over the seat at the bottom to protect from dirty like feet too! I highly recommend these!

Seat saver, wish I would have bought these sooner.

I purchased this when I purchased my new car with leather interior. My previous car had leather indentations from my daughters car seat. I didn't realize the damage that had been done until I switched her to a booster. The indentions never went away. When I had my son, I didn't want to make the same mistake. I have tested this out for 6 months now and it has worked very well! I have periodically taken it out to vacuum and check my seat. There are zero indentations. The extra bonus is I don't have to vacuum under it because it catches all the crumbs. It has a raised edge all the way around the base that acts as a crumb catcher. Why did I give it only 4 stars? Here are the reasons, it sits awkward in my seat. I have a Prius with bucket type seats and this just doesn't sit right another issues, I wish I could get the same color as my seat. This dark color sticks out like a sore thumb on my light brown seats. It also shows dirt quickly. Other than a few cosmetic complaints I would certainly purchase this again!

I’m working at a different hospital this week. It’s a place that does not afford me the privilege of a parking garage. This took a most unfortunate turn today, in this blistering 103 degree Oklahoma hellbeast misery. I’m running late to pick up the kid from daycare as always, with approximately 24 minutes to make an 18 minute drive (if everything goes my way, a 24 minute drive if it doesn’t). Thankfully they are always kind. I pull open the driver’s side door to throw my crap across the seats, and am immediately knocked back by a blast of ammonia smell, concentrated by the convective energy of a thousand suns. My nose hairs are immediately singed off, and I lose at least half an eyebrow. What. The. Eff. Did a rabid raccoon somehow crawl under the hood and die, expelling only the contents of it’s urinary tract and that alone? No, couldn’t be that. Did I somehow sleepwalk last night and power-scrub the seats with actual straight-up industrial-grade ammonia? Hell no, not a chance. Then it hits me, minute 4 of the drive, mid-gag; she’s been peeing in the car seat literally every single day this week on the five minute ride home (because the daycare teachers have been fooled into thinking that she’s potty-trained, as she’s wily and she holds her bladder much of the day, then lies and tells them she’s peeing on the potty and they believe her cherubic a$$ because of course they do; then she just waits until her naptime pull-up to pee, and they think she’s almost all the way there). I’ve washed the fabric car seat liner every single day this week, but I’ve failed to check under the seat for a worse problem than a small pee situation. And this has proven to be a near fatal error. I get to the daycare parking lot and confirm the catastrophic situation: there is a veritable puddle of partially-evaporated ultra-concentrated heated urine, pooled in the amazing Brica car seat protector, seemingly miraculously contained under the car seat. And it is cloudy secondary to mixing with a dissolved Pepperidge Farm goldfish and an organic pomegranate blueberry fruit snack 🤢 I die a little inside and try not to burst into tears. Of course, my husband unexpectedly having to go out of town has happened to coincide with the teachers at the school and my kid both converging on this particular week as the penultimate potty training moment. And she is taking it seriously. I get inside and am shocked to see her in the same clothes that I dropped her off in. Holy s***, this is remarkable. She has made some serious progress. She sees me and, rather than running straight at me full speed like a caged animal set free, she instead screams at me “I don’t like you, get away from me!!” and hugs the teacher’s leg. As I suspect, she has to poop and has for about 24 hours, and she is not happy. We get home, and she goes straight for her new pink potty ladder with bear-shaped handles and climbs straight up and pees in the potty. Then ten minutes later, she tells me she needs to poop on the potty and tries really hard to get over that toddler’s-mental-pooping-into-an-open-void hurdle for a few minutes, before giving up and asking for a pull-up. This is a huge leap forward in potty-training-purgatory-circles-of-hell. I put her in front of StoryBots with a plate of all of her favorite extremely-low-calorie foods that are the only things she eats, and I set about Cloroxing away my troubles. I poured vinegar and baking soda on this beast, let it sit, and then rinsed. It still had a whiff of urine, so I decided - what do I have to lose? I’ll throw it in the washer, worst thing that happens is I have to buy another. And it came out great! Odor-free, and wholly intact. I couldn’t be happier, this seat protector saved me from having to put a brick on the accelerator and Thelma-and-Louising my car straight off a cliff. Buy this now.

We have purchased five of these car seat protector over the years. First, my husband bought one for his car, as he has leather seats. It worked so well, that he bought another one for his car for our other child. Then, he eventually replaced all of our car seat protectors in my minivan with the Brica Seat Guardian Car Seat Protector. These car seat protectors have rubber strips the prevent the car seat from slipping during quick stops (we live in the country and have had to brake for deer multiple times). Other car seat protectors have allowed fluids to drip down onto the seats, mostly where the belt or latch connects to the seats. Not these ones, there is a lip that prevents any fluids from dripping down onto the seat itself. These car seat protectors are easy to clean up and easy to install, and have lasted several years with our children growing up. We have used these car seat protectors with bothe the LATCH system and with the lapbelt. This works with booster seats as well as now our oldest has graduated from a car seat to a booster seat. I like that there is a lower flap that protects the seat from snowy and muddy shoes. These car seat protectors "seem" to be waterproof as there have been little puddles from drinks that I have had to clean up rather than soaking through or leaking through to the seat itself. All of our car seats fit onto these car seat protectors with the exception of our latest (and by far largest) baby car seat. The base of this one just rests ontop of the lip of the car seat protector. After securing the car seat properly, there is no movement or tilt to the car seat (just the lip of the car seat protector is now compressed down in that area). We will never purchase another car seat protector again after previously purchasing three different brands, which all had great reviews. With our kids through hockey practices, picnics, multiple long distance trips of 11-20 hours each to Disney World and family living out of state, these protectors have held up and surpassed all of our expectations!

I purchased two of these - one for my car and one for my wife's car. These are a great idea and are thick enough to prevent the upholstery of the vehicle from being damaged by a tightly strapped in car seat. The seatback protector secures nicely under the headrest and is useful for taking a kicking from my rear-facing infant. Although this is listed as "seat guardian", what shipped to me is "seat guardian elite". I was originally looking to purchase a similar product made by Diono on recommendation by my brother, but shipping delays made this one seem more attractive. After seeing both, I believe this is the superior product.
