It's a swiss army knife- best and unique carrier ever!!
I have been meaning to write a review for the Our Expedition baby carrier but I wanted to wait until we had a few adventures in. This photo is how excited my husband and baby were when I got it for his father's day gift. My baby was 11 months old at the time and fit snuggly at around 17lbs. Since having it for a couple months, we have used it on big trips to Sam's Club, taking packages to the post office, walking in a mall, and while walking in a big box store. ALWAYS, he thanks Our Expedition for being so comfortable, simple, and for giving us free hands!! It makes carting around a kid so easy with no stroller to drag around. People always compliment and are so impressed. And our kiddo is so content with a great view in a comfy spot that we don't have to worry as much for any outside danger. Quality: Very nice material. It's rugged and stitched well. The padding for shoulders and mesh for weather is awesome. The buckles snap cleanly and smoothly together. (There's even a whistle on one.) The zippers zip smoothly. Features of the carrier and backpack: Speaking of, I really like that the zippers have a bright color- easy to locate. All of the loops and hooks are so helpful. Some of the longer straps have a small band at the ends to roll up and neatly hold them so they're not flying around. The top front pocket (backpack) with the buckle is so genius. I can toss around a water bottle, kids toy, mirror, lotion- very quick access. There are two main compartments for the backpack. I haven't used the accomodations for using a water pouch/bladder (camelback) but I'm so excited that we can we when go on hikes! If I am nitpicking for impovements: the way the backpack rests behind the carrier when connected. The connection is very secure but it can sag with a gap between your back and the bag. Maybe some velcro/velcro straps around the poles on the bag to carrier? (Sorry, I'm not very creative.) Or add some reflective tape for night time safety. The instructions to extend the carrier for height are a little hard to visualize so definitely search on YouTube and watch their video on how to extend the carrier for taller people and making sure it is at a good height for the best comfort (if it's wrong, you'll feel more should pressure. If it's right, it's more evenly distributed to your back and hips. ) Anyway, the fold for the carrier is so easy and keeps things thing compact when not in use. It reminds me of how you assemble a tent. Another cool compact item is the sunshade attachment, neatly hidden in the backrest. The straps to tighten whatever is in the water bottle side pockets are so handy- we keep a hand sanitizer bottle in one and it is locked in. There are just so many things we love about it. I could go on and on. Customer service: I was bummed when I tried to purchase one earlier this year but I signed up for a " contact when in stock list" on OE's site and bam, they let me know right away and I swooped in! This customer service is amazing. Trust me. It's worth the wait. Only a couple days ago did my husband realize the extra pieces to extend the carrier were missing- I know they came in the pocket but I was upset because I think I accidentally threw them out. He emailed OE to order the pieces and they're going to send it to us free. Wow y'all wow. You can feel so much care and genuine heart and mind went into this product. That's why it is so wonderful. I'm planning to buy more of these for my friends and family. Can't wait for another release. (Also, so sweet for the twin hats surprise. My family loves them.) May I suggest writing out "Our Expedition" when selling on Amazon I've heard some people have a bit harder time finding the carrier. Thank you for reading my novel. Now get on the list to know when they're available again!!!!

Awesome, comfortable, fun, lightweight shoulder carrier!
I traveled solo with my daughter who turned 4. I must say, traveling with a preschooler isn’t the easiest but this shoulder carrier is the best! The gear is constructed with high quality materials, super comfortable and breathable, plus easy to use! I loved the accessories. I added a bladder pack and was able to have water. My daughter thought the whistle was so cool. I also liked the zipper pulls had the added loop I could easily put my finger and run through. I liked the yellow color indicators where to click onto the carabiner and liked how they screw to lock. I’m pretty petite at 5’1” and wasn’t sure how to get her in there but I would squat down or sit on a bench and she would climb aboard. My daughter is little too, maybe 27lbs and she enjoyed riding on top. We love it so much, even for daily errands as my daughter asks to ride in the shoulder carrier and even used it to walk to the pediatrician’s office for an annual checkup. I wore it at the airport, hiking in Hawaii, museum, and outdoor trails Only thing, I would say is maybe the side water pocket a little bigger as my two water bottles fit, but was a little tough to get into. Maybe because it was brand new. As for storing under a plane seat it was easy to take off the backpack but not as easy to store horizontally the frame even folded down in the middle seat, but was able to place in under the seat the vertical way sticking out a little bit. I like how there is a detachable backpack where you can wear separately if you wanted to. It's really roomy and lots of different areas to store things. The waist fit great. In the waist belt, there were even sewn in pockets I could put a hand sanitizer and sunblock in the other. Heard the next version will have additional pocket pouch for the frame too. Overall, this is the best child carrier with ample storage/hydration backpack!! Sunshade included, with online video instruction is great. You cannot go wrong with oe carrier. Awesome customer service and a great deal. Cannot wait for future adventures!

Great but too many clips
We love our carrier, its light and our son fits right on it. However, it appears to be designed by an engineer who has never met a human family before. There are may too many clips and straps and doodads. I feel like I'm getting ready to climb Mount Everest whenever I use this because of all the points of connection that I have to pay attention to. For example, when it folds up, it can be a hassle because the folding frame requires one to pull it apart however there isn't anything that one can grab onto. The cloth cover will slide off if you pull too hard, and there isn't a handle on the frame itself. Additionally, the attachable backpack has four corner clips (ok, makes sense) but there are two different types on the top and bottom which makes it confusing to do quickly. The backpack itself is nice and we often use it as a standalone, though we haven't tried putting a water source in it yet. Finally the sun shade on the top is rather difficult to put on and the excess front straps to keep it in place are like catnip for my toddler. The one time I put it on he just kept pulling the straps down so the shade would cover both our faces. Overall, its a very handy device. A foldable shoulder mount with an attachable backpack is a great idea and is very useful. However I hope that the engineers hire someone with a toddler to be on their UX team next go around. This would be much better with about 75% less clips and straps.

Life Saver!!
I bought this child carrier backpack one month ago and have been carrying it around for one month. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this carrier!!! It’s my life saver! It’s cushioned, super lightweight (only 3.4lbs w/o backpack), roomy, well-ventilated, and what is the most important, very comfortable! It’s very balanced and easy to adjust. What I love about this child carrier: *Its well-padded shoulder straps and hip belt supported weight more comfortably than any other pack I tried in the past. It delivers posh comfort to my hips and back. Even though it’s very light, it’s still very tough. I have not had any problem with wear and tear. *The pack has many ways to adjust the height, straps, weight distribution, etc. This is very important because sometimes my husband and I need to alternate turns with the pack. Quick and easy adjustable feature is very important to us. * I also love the design that it has a standalone backpack, which has enough space for water bottles, diapers, wipes, food etc. It’s very versatile and practical. What my kid loves(he specifically mentioned to me, “mommy I love my new seat!”): * It’s very cozy, secure and stable. *What is the most important, my kid enjoys a totally unobstructed view right now!!! He doesn’t complain about my big head right now I use this child carrier for everything from bringing my kid on a backpacking weekend trip to replacing a stroller for art museum exploration to shopping at a farmer’s market. I wish I could have used it earlier!

By far the BEST carrier on the market
My husband likes to joke that I should be a professional product tester because I buy so much stuff. And I always buy the top few things of a kind and compare them. In this case I purchased the Our Expedition shoulder carrier and the Minimeis. The Minimeis only goes on your shoulders and does not have any additional support. I actually couldn't bare to wear it but for a few minutes as it caused a lot of upper back pain and cut of the circulation to my arms, they actually got red while wearing it. Then I tried this OE carrier and was absolutely amazed! I have a bad back and literally see a physical therapist weekly and could easily carry my child around for an hour no problem. My daughter strongly preferred this carrier also. When I put it on we danced around and ran around the house laughing and having a blast. We went to the museum the following day (because we knew we could easily with this) and my husband wore it. It was awesome to be so hands free and our 18 month old was so comfortable and happy up there (everyone was jealous). For my husband he could easily carry our 18 month old for 2-3 hours no problem. With the Minimeis unfortunately you get upper back fatigued pretty fast so it would be a short solution, if any. I guess the Scandinavian dads who made that have super ripped upper backs and skinny armpits lol. And the minimeis is definitely NOT for a woman, which they do say. They tell you how as a woman you can "try" to use it but it doesn't really work. The chest strap is absolutely necessary to make it work and if you have a B or above you definitely cannot wear it as a woman. The OE carrier is for everyone and can wear the chest strap with a EE breast size, it also has a sun shade and a very high quality/technology advanced/"use" savvy backpack and offers REAL support. Our daughter is only 22 lbs now but I can see being able to use this for the long haul. It says you can use it through 5 years old. This is by far the longest review I've ever written and the first time I'm posting pics. I was so absolutely impressed by this product that I felt I had to support it and share our experience. Long story short, we as a family are looking forward to many more adventures now that we have this carrier, that we otherwise would not have even dared dream of. Thank you OE for the ingenuity behind this carrier!!!!

High and Mighty
I got this for my husband and daughter when we hike. So far it has been to the mountains of NC, the Zoo and several local state parks. She loves sitting high but feeling secure and he loves having his hands free

I don't hate it...
I have a high end kelty kids carrier backpack which doesn't work great. The weight distribution is just off. So I got the OE Hiking Carrier in hopes that it would save my back. And it did. The problem is, it just hurts my neck now. It basically just moves the pain from one muscle group to another. It is definitely comfortable for the first 30 minutes. From 30-1h, I can feel the pain, and more than an hour and my neck is pretty sore. I have tried many different positions to try and get it just right, and I guess I just can't find it. The website claims you should be able to go about 2 hours, and I think I could make it 2 hours but definitely not comfortable. On the plus side, my son LOVES IT. He just wants to go outside and walk for hours. With the backback, he wants to get out and walk around, but in this, he just wants me to take him everywhere. It's safe, sturdy, and definitely feels like it should cost $160.

Comfortable and fun way to hike with your baby
We used this OE Shoulder Hiking Carrier for Child and Toddler for the first time on a trip to Sedona, and it worked great once we figured out all the adjustments. Our baby absolutely loved being up high and getting the best view of the trail. The waist support band really helps take pressure off the shoulders, and it’s a nice touch that you can attach the included backpack for extra storage. The sunshade also does a good job keeping the baby comfortable and protected. Overall, it’s a well-designed, sturdy carrier that makes hiking with a little one a lot more enjoyable.

Best carrier ever
I've had the best customer service from OE through e-mail. Always answer within 1 or 2 days max. I got the 2.0 version (this one right here) as soon as it became available in Canada. Received it in 3 days, NO PLASTIC PACKAGING and everything was as advertised. I'm very happy with the modifications they made to the new version. The clips for the shader are much more reliable and easy to manipulate and the new clips for the backpack are positioned in a way that lets you (or someone else) go through the pack without removing it. Everything is super sturdy and feels very durable. It took me 3 tries to find the right setting for me and the configuration possibilities are amazing. You can adjust this thing any way you need. I'm 5'10'' and I had to use one pair of extension for the back rods. Contrary to other carriers of this type, women can wear it too as it is easy to move the straps where they need to be. The boys absolutely love it. As soon as I put them on there they are laughing, pointing at things and babbling a whole bunch (they don't talk yet). The bigger one is a bit on the heavy side and is very tall so it was a bit harder to carry him, especially since he tries to reach for everything he can't usually reach. The backpack is surprisingly good too. I was expecting a cheap little thing just as a bonus and to fit a couple things but this is a real good day pack that is clearly worth at least half the price of the whole thing. (Maybe offer a more affordable version without the pack for the people who don't need it?) Plus the matching hats are really a good add-on and are again, surprisingly well made, 100% cotton. The carrier is more than I expected and I don't regret it one second. I just want to answer the weird 2 star review lower since the owner didn't answer it. Clearly the person who reviewed it didn't read the instructions. Looking at the pictures, she is wearing the carrier and the backpack both at the same time. The backpack is meant to hang off the back of the carrier. Of course it would be horrible to wear 4 shoulder straps and 2 belts. I can't even believe someone would think this is the right way. Also, the belt of the carrier (or any kind of backpack for that matter) has to sit ABOVE your hips. She's wearing it on her butt... I can also assure you that the kid is absolutely secured. The strap are adjustable and I wouldn't be scared one second of him falling asleep and not balancing himself. There is no way a kid would fall off of there if strapped in correctly. Her other point was that she could fall and then the kid would be hurt but that's the case of any carrier of any kind. Not sure what she was trying to say there. Obviously don't go rock climbing with this but don't be scared to go hiking. Unless you're pushing beyond your capabilities I don't see why you would fall. If you want to compare with minimeis, go check out on youtube the reviews of both OE and minimeis carriers. The channel ''Family life with the pod'' has great unbiased reviews that will explain the pros and cons of both products. (Spoiler alert, OE has none) Really, just buy it and try it. I can't see why someone wouldn't love it unless they just don't use it. Thanks OE for the great service and for the little details and features of the product. I'm amazed at the quality you provide.

Super porte bebe/enfant

The screw broke off on second use
I have used this product once for a short duration and the second time I tried to use it,the screw broke and it's not usable any more. Unfortunately the return window is closed, but I want this to be either repaired or returned with refund or exchanged. Very very disappointed with this product.

Best baby acquisition so far
That is the best acquisition I've made for the baby so far. Both the stroller and kangaroo are now backup plans. He loves to go on top, its convenient, and because we walk a lot in uneven terrain this carrier becomes even more useful. On top of that, it has a massive backpack that can double down as trekking and baby backpack.
